I have the radio from a old RTR boat I had (I don't have the boat anymore). Can I (and how easy would it be) switch the componants from the radio of my new boat into the old radio? The older radio is much higher quality.

I assume that the radios are on different frequencies. The first thing to try is changing the receiver crystal to match the frequency of the higher quality radio. Changing the receiver crystal may not work if the transmitter and receiver are different brands: some radios are negative shift (Futaba, Hitec, Tower Hobbies) and others are positive shift (Airtronics, JR). In the U.S. it is illegal to change crystals in the transmitter.

How old is the older radio? If its 15 years or older, trying to change the parts won't be economical. Prior to 1990 we had "wide band" radios, with channel spacing every 40 KHz. 1990 started the "narrow band" radios, with channel spacing every 20 KHz. The wide band radios were legal (in the U.S.) until 1998.

Hmmmm, sounds like I may be screwed then because, yes, they are different frequences and the older one is a JR and the newer one is by Futaba.
