OK I am not asking for a straight thought from the top of your head, but I am asking those who have used the following batteries before and know them well, but anyway I need to know which batteries are better: Peak, Orion, or ESP? I want to order some 2400's and they all cost the same.

In my opinion I think that the Fantom SMC Killer Voltz are the best. Peak also makes good batteries. http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif

Give Superior Hobbies a call.

(407) 834-9299

or visit them on the web at www.superiorhobbies.com (http://www.superiorhobbies.com)

They have SMC 2400's with the best voltage I have ever seen in a hobby store. 1.125+ on every one. They are $69.

Hey, Sir, do you get free batteries (from Trinity)? I'd love to know what the specs are on the baddest packs out there.

Yeah, I'm jealous... http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Face it, guys. All the batteries we buy are made by Sanyo or Panasonic. All the resellers do is test them and sell similar cells together. They might try to increase the voltage by redicing IR or something, but they're all from the same company in the end. It basically comes down to which tag on the cells you like best. If you can compare the average numbers of the packs before you buy, do it, but that's the only way to gauge the performance. No company that re-sells batteries made by Sanyo (or Panasonic) is going to have a huge advantage over another brand. You just have to find the best cells out of Sanyo's batch, any one of the resellers could have them. That's the truth.

Narib-

I run SMC batteries. Danny Sullivan has been a great help to me and my racing.

As for the Killer specs, I have one 2400 that is labeled 288sec, 1.134-1.136 @ 30A with 3.1-3mohms IR. Most of my packs are around 1.130-2, 285+ runtime, and 3.5+ IR.

I race with Jason Ruona, who placed fourth in 2wd at the '99 Worlds in Finland, runs for Trinty. I know for a fact that his cells are in the mid 1.13 range.

Nothing special. Just watch you LHS....very closely.....lol....right now Superior Hobbies has around 20 pack of SMC 2400's that have 1.125+ on the labels.....

SirSpeedy I think you might be right. My LHS sells SMC 2000's and they are the best 2000's I ever had. I've bought a few trinity 2000's and some reedy 2000's and they werent as good as my SMC's. But my LHS charges 65.00 for that battery and 76 for the 2400. But They have to make a special order to get those. Should I order from Superior Hobbies or get the LHS to order them?

ALWAYS support your Local Hobby Shop.

You might suggest to the owner of your lhs that they give SMC a call directly, and tell them thay they are looking for some premium cells. Some lhs's don't care about number, since their customer will by what ever they get. Your lhs will still have to go through a distrubutor, but you will have a better chance of getting good cells.

I would go for the 2400's. Sanyo discontinued the 2000's almost a year ago, and the new 2400's have as much or more voltage than the old 2000's.

See ya...
