I am going to paint my new gt body base color pearl white and the graphics orange. This will be my very first paint job ever I have lots of questions. I bought some parma lighting paints mask I think I can make it look pretty good. I have talked to many people at my hobby store on how to use it and I get all kinds of different answers. What color do I put down first white or orange. I plan on backing the whole body with silver. Also I am using spray paint not airbrush. My main question is how to use this paint mask. I want to know the easiest step by step instruction the paint mask came with some but they are so confusing I have no clue. Can someone help out a newbie.
I would greatly apreciate it.
thanks

First of all, welcome to the forums!
Second, the basic rule of thumb to go by is to paint dark colors first, then the lighter ones, this is so that the dark colors don't "show" through the lighter ones and make them look darker.

So if you want the lightning to be orange, you would need the negative part of the mask. This is not the actual lightning but the area around it on the mask. It is a good idea to paint darker colours first so the dark paint won't show through the lighter paint. You would then put the negative part of the mask on the body where you want it and spray your orange. After you're done spraying the orange, you remove the mask and spray the white. After the white, you would back it with silver like you mentioned. I hope I helped you some. The mask part was hard to explain. If you are still confused, just ask.

Since I'm bored, I made a diagram. The first box on the left, shows the mask(yellow) and the lightning bolts. The lightning bolts will be the clear part of the body. So when you spray your orange on it and remove it, it will look like the box on the right. Then you just spray your white over top that then back it and you are good to go. I hope it explains it better.

thanks for the replies keep them coming. So what is transfer tape? If I put the paint mask on now how would I keep it flat so no air bubbles get to it.
thanks
