I have some really awsome reedy zappers that I have bought, now I have a problem. I bought a deans lightbulb kit to discharge them about a year ago (i left rc for awhile). Now I am getting back into rc and deans has cancelled the blackbox 2. I don't have another way to discharge except the bulbs so what should I do now cause I don't want to just unplug the bulbs when they start to go dim or else the batteries will start to regain memory. You can't buy the blackbox 2 anymore so what should I do?
WHAT DOES "EVERYONE" ELSE DO FOR DISCHARGING BATTERIES SO THEY LAST? Thank's and everyone post what you do for your battery care.

Are they Nicad or Nimh?
Nimh-really don't need to be deep discharged often. Also they should be stored with about 50% charge in them.
Nicads-you can use a tray or just use your light string to discharge them. Nicads should be stored discharged.

Their Nicad's rc2000's... As I understand though, if you discharge with just the bulbs there is no way of know when to stop the discharge and therefore the cells stop at a different discharge all of the time cause you are just guessing by the bulbs going dim?

Well I have a MPH discharger. It comes pre-built and with an auto cutoff box. All u need to do is install a connector. That would be your best bet.

Racer's Edge also sells a bulb Disc. w/ cut off switch assembled for just under 40 bucks, or you can get a discharge tray like the indi octane from integy, it has a 30A Disc. rate

XXXER > No I race at the Intermountain. I will have to check out the riverdale track though.
Does the integy discharge board discharge the cells or do you still use the light bulbs??

I race at IRCR also, what class are you in?
The integy does not use bulbs. It is a tray, and i believe there is an optional built in fan.
See you later, i am going to see if i can make it out this saturday, did you race at the charity?

I have been out of racing for awhile around 2years, but I am in stock class. Do you still have to win so many novice races to get into the stock class at Intermountain? If so it might take me a couple of races to get back into the stock class.
