I've never flown a helicopter before and was looking into this. (http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2431387&cp=2032062.2032402.2032406&allCount=51&fbn=Type%2FAir&f=PAD%2FProduct+Type%2FAir&fbc=1&parentPage=family) I saw a guy flying it at my lhs indoor track. That thing just kept on going after it ran right into the wall! I don't want to waste my money if it won't work. Anyone have any ideas? If thats not good, then I am debating between these two.
The RotoFly (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXMDN9**&P=PV)
The Axe CP (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXMDN9**&P=PV)
Or maybe you have something less extreme to suggest?
I would perfer a RTF and for a beginner.

thanks,
zeek

lol, just stopped flying it to reply.... i love mine, fly it every day. Great micro,...flies nice, great set up. Wait a bit, save your money, the cx2 is coming, with spektrum radio! nicer looking fuseleage in my opinion too, and same price!

Will the cx2 be just as easy as the cx? If its going to be harder, then I'll get the cx. How much more will the cx2 be than the cx? Thanks z-man.

the cx2 is the same price as the cx...$189.00 but has some advancements made to it over the cx that should actually make it EASIER to fly.....granted, i am by no means an expert in this field, as i too have just started flying, but i took te advise of the veterans here, looked at what THEY were flying, and recommending, and based my choices on that. i made the right one too in my opinion. The blade flies nice, is a great learner, and both it and the cx2 come with charger/balancer/ a/c wall adapter, and a 800 mah lipo pack. Make sure you read up on lipo's first..i cant stress this enough. Proper care is a huge part of having the power and performance of lipo, as they can be very dangerous if not cared for properly. Look elsewhere in this section, or better yet,.....read http://forums.radiocontrolzone.com/showthread.php?t=213115 in its entirety. Sage advise and tips are in there, and some great guidelines to follow.

So the CX2 and the CX are the same price but the CX2 comes with a Spektrum? Why wont the CX2 be more expensive? What about the CX2 will make it easier to fly?

not sure, they are offering it for the same price tho. It could ease in flying, i am not sure. I am new to the heli's as well, so i cant offer too much advise. The orginal cx is FM,so the jump to spektrum is great, and for it to be the same price, with the new fusealge too, its a great deal.

I would say, if you are going to advance to bigger and better heli's, I would go with the Blade CP. I've flown the CX and it seems more toy-like. I learned on the CP and now moved up to a Raptor30 v2. I still love to fly the CP. I'll tell you what Kyle Stacy told me(placed in the top 3 in the US @11 years old). If you learn to fly the CP and hover it well, you can fly any gasser with ease. the CP is very quick in response with a higher head speed than my Raptor and I can hold it consistently steady because of my CP training. of course, a sim is worth it's weight in gold also. don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking the CX too bad here, but you aren't going to learn the same/proper techniques as you would with the CP. if I could go back, I'de buy the CP Pro if you can afford the extra. the extra flight time alone is worth it. but take a nickels worth of free advice here please..........you are going to end up doing all the upgrades(bell mixer, etc.) eventually and they will cost more, so spend the little extra and get em all now. wish I had done it that way. absolutely buy a sim if you can afford it also. the money spent here will be more than repayed in parts/crash savings. beware of radio glitches if you buy the "OLD" FM radio. can never quite figure that out.......oh well. feel free to ask any questions and I will be glad to help as much as I can, but deffinitely buy the CP Pro over any of them..........just make sure you buy a few pairs of flet bottom blades and take off the semi's the heli comes with. training gear is essential too...........if you aren't going with a simulator. I would also advise for the first few flights to get the heli just "light" on the skids(or balls of the training gear) and move around on the ground to get used to the bell mixer and the rotor angle before you try to lift off the ground too much. trust me on this one.......it can save you the hard lessons of replacing crashed parts. and remember to fly the nose and not watch the tail........it's a nasty habbit to develope. as I said, hope this all helps and feel free to ask any questions you may have

I had a Blade CP... It was $219.00, and in the next few months I spent about $250 in crash parts and tail motors. Get a simulator first, it will be alot cheaper in the long run for ya, and then you'll be able to fly any quality heli that has a shaft or belt driven tail rotor with ease. Dennis Flora

i ordered a micro heli from hobbytron, apparently they were out of stock so they upgraded me to a hawk. I was not pleased!!! although it was quite a bit bigger than my original purchase i thought what the heck i`ll give it a try.
the first flight went real bad, lifted off maybe an inch, it went forward and to the right. After retriving it from under the workbench and after a complete inspection, I decided that it needed some adjusting. I move the battery box back one hole, dropped the tail rotor to almost straight and tried it again. It was much better actually hovered. The final adjustment I made to the hawk was an after market prop for the tail. This was it. The bird flew perfect. Although it was not my original purchase, it turned out great and for $65 bucks I can replace it when it dies. AND YES it come with a transmitter.

Keep your nose up. Rahshadow.

sorry about all of the additional posts, don`t get me wrong about this heli, when considering the whole spectrum of helis this definitly falls on the toy end of the spectrum, does it fly? yes ,with tweeking. Will you learn to fly other birds by flying this one? no probably not, it doesn`t have any of the things you REALLY want in a heli. no servos ,no gyro, nothing thats going to help in future birds. as i said before , i ended up with this thing by happenstance. Would i buy one? not if i was trying to learn real helis.( ones with gyros and servos)
All that having been said , it is fun though. this is the kind of thing that gets you hooked on rc, it`s so easy it fools you into thinking you`re better than you really are, in fact after flying it for a while i jumped into a six channel walkera 36, BIG MISTAKE!!!!!! invest in a simulator if you`re seriously thinking of getting into the real deal, the savings in parts alone is well worth the initial investment.as far as "real" helis go i`m probably the worst guy on the planet to take advise from!! those things are hard!!!
