The other day i finally went down to the electric track i've been meaning to go see for a while. I have been into nitro r/c cars for about a year now and want to expand my horizons. My birthday is coming up in September and i am thinking about asking for a RTR T3 from associated. I know i need a some bateries like 6 cell. It comes with speed controle motor and the others that make it rtr but i need to know if need to sauter the electrics together? But i would like your opinion of the car too. thanks for every thing. :)

Everything should be soldered already. I have been looking at one as well, but not sure if I should go for the RTR or one of the team kits. It is looking more like I may go for one of the kits just to save money on upgrades that I would make anyway. Another thing is that I don't think that the RTR has full bearings in it. That is something that I am just plain sold on.

Team teflon coated shocks, sealed ball bearings, Competition tires , cvd's.
Maybe a couple little more things. Since you been in a year now im sure you know a little about the hobby. So you might want to take a look at the team or factory team kit. Build it yourself and install your own electronics.
If your plan on upgradeding this will help you in the long run.

yes i see the point in getting a team kit but i really like rtr's usually i take them apart after the runs to clean every thing and get a understanding of what i'm dealing with and as far as electrics go i'm pleased if it works and if it doesn't i'm getting better. thanks :)

The RTR is fine but, Bearings are a MUST before you ever drive it. So consider a bearing kit in the price when getting a RTR.
RTR $230
Bearing Kit $28
Total $258
Team Kit $180
Motor $28 (P2k,GM3)
Radio/w ESC $85 Futaba 2PC with 230CR ESC
Total $293
For only $35 more you have a better kit. The ESC may or may not be as good as the one that comes with the kit but mine works fine. It has a limit of 19T motors and I am not sure about the one in the kit. Other than that its alot better T3. I like Futaba radios much better, and running a P2K it will be much faster. Take a look around RTR is not the only way to go. I did not put this in the price but you will need paint for the body. A plus with the second package is you get to paint the body yourself and put the motor you want on it. That would prob come soon after getting the RTR. $20 body and $28 motor is already more than the price difference. Well I gues RTR is not fine now that I look at it like that. And remember I did not even count the upgrades that you get in the team kit over the RTR. GO with a Team kit and nothing less.

Listen to JonBoy, he's got a great argument going. I totally agree with him.
FYI, the ESC in the T3 RTR is so bottom-of-the-barrel that it doesn't even have an on/off switch. As soon as you plug in the batt, it's on. I've heard great things about that Futaba ESC (230CR), and you can't beat $85 for that nice ESC AND a decent radio. That's awesome. Go for a P2K, because GM3s don't last long in trucks. My brother got a T3 RTR, and I had him immediately order bearings, a P2K, and a set of titanium turnbuckles. The sealed-endbell motor that comes with it is weak stuff, don't waste your time or money on it.
Anyway, I say go with option #2, the Team kit & stuff that JonBoy suggested because it'll be cheaper and you'll end up with better stuff.

Sorry I need to fix myself. I said the futaba ESC has a 19T motor limit it is actualy 20T but I have been running 19T in it for awhile and just got it mixed up.
