Notice no EA3 on the truck?
Casper

Yes and for a good reason! This truck is fully prototype right now. They are trying about 4 different rear ends on the truck right now and still working out details. Gil Jr. truck did have the AD2 rear hubs on it with the QC levers.

Good call Casper. I guess the word "Prototype" got missed by quite a few readers! I have no concrete evidence that the XXX-T CR will be EA3 (it would make sense) but right now, Losi is still working on suspension geometry for the new truck. We are still in the learning process of trying new things to see what they do. It's not as easy as shooting graphite molds full of EA3 just to take "spy shot" pictures. Be patient :)
The ski/motocross goggles. Jeremy Felles was the first to sport the goggles over the week (I think on Wednesday) because he didn't have sunglasses with him this weekend and the sun and glare were pretty brutal. I'd venture to say that most racers who've ever been to the Silver State Nitro Challenge in Vegas bring goggles with them to most R/C events, and the wind picked up considerably this weekend compared to most events at Hot Rod.
That's me in the first picture, with the Losi/Trinity shirt and Oakley goggles. I found that I wasn't blinking much and that made the dust particularly harsh, so I broke out the googles.
Jason - No pictures of John's awesome haircut?!
Congratulations to Joel Eaton for sweeping the Open Electric classes and leading a Team Losi sweep of all five privateer classes!

Congratulations to Ryan Maifield and Jared Tebo for winning Factory Gas Truck and Factory Modified Truck with their Associated rides.
Factory Gas Truck
TQ Ryan Maifield set a blistering pace and started to check out early in the 45-minute main.I don't think he crashed or bobbled the first 15 minutes of the race. Towards the latter half of the race Team Losi's Travis Amezcua, and Associated's Jared Tebo were gaining ground on Maifield who seemed to be driving conservatively. Tebo fought from nearly a lap down all the way to second when he eventually passed Amezcua who was battling tire wear. Maifield dropped the hammer again after receiving a new right rear tire and went onto win. Jared Tebo grabbed second with Travis Amezcua rounding out the podium.
Factory Modified Truck
In A1 Ryan Cavalieri battled a loose truck, but was able to hold off a hard charging Steven Hartson for the win. In A2 Jared Tebo took the win setting up a shootout for A3. In A3 Ryan Cavalieri got a good start and was out front the majority of the race. A hard charging Adam Drake worked his way into second and was all over Cavalieri. The two drove side by side for several laps until "The Drake" snuck inside Cavalieri in the sweeper after the straightaway. After the clean pass late in the race, Drake went onto win with Cavalieri in second. Tebo and Cavalieri were tied in points after A3, so it went down to their throwout score in which Tebo's was better. Tebo first, Cavalieri second, and Drake third.
Our contributiong author John Cary is in route to Northern California as I write this, but he'll be posting more pictures later today. Here is a shot of his often talked about new hairstyle.

dont know why the dont use Spektrum.
I've heard of freak failures for no reason from the Spektrum systems. The good FM or PCM radios also have a faster response time, although it's so little that your average driver couldn't tell the difference. I guess the pros are like the military they don't want to trust the new stuff until it's been tested for years and by then it's the old stuff :).
Or maybe they just want to use traditional radios so if someone cuts them off they can whip him with the antenna?
I personally think that the 2.4ghz systems are/can be better and more convenient. I use a DX3.

Todd,
I assure you that John will post a winners picture of Open Gas Truck. He was scrambling to get the other photos up and must of overlooked a photo of that class. He is at work today and will post a picture tonight. Congrats on your win in Open Gas Truck and thanks for the help this weekend. See you at Hot Rods.

Jason:
No worries! I was actually just pulling his chain! The non-factory classes don't get much mention anyways.
Thanks for the congrats! Sorry thing didn't work out better for you.
Hopefully you can do more racing in 2007 so you can get your own truck dialed in. Let me know if you ever need help getting it ready before a race, I am a pretty good wrench!
Talk to you soon!
