i am guessing this will get moved, but.....this is pack # 14, and the 14th time i have ever flown.....its a bit confining, i only have about 9ft. x 14 ft. to fly in, so its like treading a needle every time i fly! :p
Oh, i have done better landings too!:D

I have to say..... you need to work on proper lighting before you make movies!!! :D:D:D

Nice flight, are you running the E-flite CX? Looks like fun.

:D A whole different world, helis is.

Sure is a blast though, isn't it? A feeling you don't get anywhere else (think shaking legs, double heart rate, etc. :D)

I can't fly my CP outside anymore, probably for the rest of the winter :( Seems like the wind isn't giving up, and it just gets colder and colder, and rainier. Eventually that rain will turn to snow.... Oh well

Lookin good Ron. Keep at it! :) Just gets better and better every flight....

yeah, seems whenever i WANT to fly ultra-smooth for the camera, it aint happening!!! i have had some good flights already, even tho i am super new!

( like i said, i only have 14 flights under my belt, each about 10-13 minutes. Each time tho, it gets better and better!:D)

I fly my CX inside everyday. On the nice days I get outside with the CP Pro. Everynight I get like a hour of sim time in. Then hopefully by next spring ill have my rex airborn. I still need a Tx and lipos so I am almost there.

Anyone ever have those "tethered" helicopter sets by Tyco(IIRC??) from the late-70's? I think my dad still has our up in the attic of his house somewhere. One day, I'll have to get him Ebay-scavenger-hunting up there......lotsa cool stuff up there!!

Thats what'll make you a great heli pilot though ;) If you can fly there you can fly anywhere.

I can imagine that mall being a blast. There is a group of guys here that fly in a school gym during the winter months. Lots of room to manuever around a really have some fun.

well, here is a "brighter" video...... after hitting stop on the camera, my lanyard cord catches the base of the tripod, pushing the remote into my chest, and sending the heli into the washing machine, .....backwards........at speed. :( :o

my first blade broke :( :( ( a lower one at that!)

good thing i bought 4 sets :roll2:

why would you leave the TV on while recording :S. All it does is make the camera close the apature so everything else is really dark.

Here's another one for ya Ron. Couple passes underneath and between the legs of our dining room table. Watch how much the rotor wash under the table makes the 'copter bob up and down, I had a hard time not smacking into the bottom of the table!

Were those called "Whirlybirds"?

Soon, my 4 1/2 year old son will get all my old AFX cars and track. I can't believe I saved 'em! Circa late 70's, early 80's?

Hehe. Nice Hijacker :D

Did you guys ever notice that when you're hovering above an object (say a few inches) and you move off the object with nothing under you for like 3 feet, for example, the heli just drops as if it's tripled in weight :D

I think I'll shoot up a vid today, as I'm off school (P.A. Day :driving: )

This is called ground effect, absolutely. :D The air reflecting off the surface bounces up and gives you extra lift, when close to the ground it gives you unstable turbulence.

Also be cautious when coming close to walls. The same thing occurs with horizontal surfaces but in the opposite, it literally sucks into the wall because it loses lift on that side.

10-27-2006, 03:23 PM
thanks for the info and tips rockinbil! i searched the forums, has anyone put the CP airwolf fuselage on the CX? if it will fit, i gotta have one:D

Yep, just what I was thinking. And the reverse is true. When you don't have the ground effect, you're producing less lift, thus dropping :D

I may get a video done tonight:)

hey guys,

just wondering, are these puppies hard to fly? i never had any air rc before, but i enjoyed watching people fly their heli/plane. thinking gonna get one...probably the cheapo one. i downloaded a flight sim just to play around....its hard for me just do simple stuff. it must be because of my lack of experience and i used keyboard to control it lol.

i dunno if you guys in US have these, but in australia theres a mini heli kinda thing call twister bell 47. i watched the vid of it....looks awesome and looks easy to fly. but must be a pro fly that thing for the vid :P

The blade CX is so easy to fly. I have let my 5yo son fly mine. Granted he does crash.

I finally got my video up:D

In some parts you can really see how the ground effect messes with the well-being of your heli.....

Awesome. It was almost like a horror movie clip. Car watching wide-eyed, then suddenly *poof* heli pops into the screen and goes for the cat.

Brilliant. Just brilliant :D

I've got a nifty idea I'll try tomorrow... will film, of course...
