I was wondering if the molded outdrives on the Racer TC3 are the same as the metal ones on the Team(only in plastic). When I help build my cousins, they seemed different. I wanted to buy some molded ones for my Team car. Any help is appreciated. Thanx.

Basically, yes, they're the same. I have a Team TC3, but I use the composite(plastic) CVD's because they're a lot less expensive than the aluminum ones.I learned about them when I started using AE's front one-way diff, & discovered that in a crash the one-way can shear off CVD's(any but perhaps the Shiny CVD's), & it would get incredibly expensive to replace a lot of aluminum ones, so I switched to the composites, & they work just fine...... :)

Thanx Grizzbob, but I was talking about the diff outdrives that the CVD's go into.

Oh, yeah, sorry about that. The plastic outdrives are mostly the same, just a lot lighter, but they should be able to take just as much abuse as the original steel ones. Yokomo has been using plastic ones since they came out with the MR4-TC, & they've been able to handle runnning 6-8 turn motors with no problems(& from what I can tell, AE's outdrives appear to be the same material). The only thing that might confuse is that you have to use bushings on the new outdrives(AE gives you some to go with them if you get the Factory Team car or the complete composite diff assembly), apparently they sized them differently, so the older outdrive bearings just won't fit the composite ones(but AE is supposed to be working on that)..... :)

Hold up, on the racer kit they are metal too, exactly the same as team, its on the Factory Team that they are composite and of course u can buy em seperately, which is what i did, huge difference! I love em
