Who do you think will win in a drag race on blacktop with the following setups?:

TC4 - upgraded to standards of old Factory Team TC3 (carbon parts, aluminum, and titanium parts, etc.), Novak 4.5 w/new sintered rotor, Orion 4800 Lipo battery, and expensive rubber tires. (24/72 gearing)

- vs. -

JATO 3.3 - Stock Trim

how long is the drag? if the tc4 can get to top speed that is what I have my money on, show us some video when your done :D

Depends on distance and if the gearing on the tc4 is maxed out.
If everything is correct the tc4 should run.

the drag is about 150-200 ft. i believe. My TC4 can still spin its tires off the line with ease but not uncontrollably so it seems to be geared just right. The recommended Novak gearing says I should use a 17-18 tooth pinion with the 4.5, but the weight reduction with the lipo and the extra torque of the new sintered rotor make the 24 tooth pinion just right.

It takes the TC4 about 3 seconds to reach top speed which i believe is around 60 mph? i think (just estimating here). I think I can take him, especially because he says that he spins the tires for like 20 ft. The race is on next Sunday against one of the employees at my local hobby shop.

the jato is too hard to control compared to a 4wd tc...

With you having a 4wd and the distance then you should be fine with a TC4. 2wd is a big disadvantage in my book. If you have a lipo then you should see less voltage drop. Now the question is how good are you off the line. The Nitro should have a slight pause of the line or atleast the initial accelaration will be slower while the engine reacts. Tires are probably the biggest determining factor. Could be fun if they end up well matched.

Well if you lose the race. Just do my setup and you will kill a Jato 3.3
My car is insane ive all ready killed the jato 3.3 easly.
RS4 Rally
Novak 4.5R HV
Dual Lipo packs 78,000 rpm 750 watts of power..
But I don't think you can fit the HV in a TC4 tho.

If the Jato could hook it, and even in stock form it would leave the TC4 standing.

The TC4 would kick ass in 150ft.

Brushless Touring cars have pretty crazy acceleration. I've not seen a Jato 3.3 so I don't know. I have seen some BL tourers though. Here's a vid of a xxx-s with a Mamba 7700 which would be comparable. It's darn quick.link (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eSwQ0tNZwxI)

Notice the vid is only 4 seconds and the car is GONE by then. That's only a six cell nimh setup.

We still have yet to race, I blew my rear outdrive, so I'm still waiting for some more parts to finish up the diffs. In the meantime I'm putting in a set of Acer Ceramic bearings to help smooth things up a bit.

If it's a wheelie drag race, the Jato 3.3 would win hands down.

If all four wheels are allowed to be on the ground, the TC4 would win with its superior linear acceleration.

I've read that the Jato can go 0 - 60 in 4.2 seconds. If I had to guess, my TC4 with the Neo 4* could go 0 - 60 as fast as it takes me to snap my fingers.

Electrics are faster off the line, 4wd is faster off the line, better aerodynamics are faster at high end. You win. Have to get some good video of this.

If I were to go Super higher speed, I'ed go with a Belt car rather then a shaft, casue it's sopose to handle stop speed better. But Back on Subject Yea I am goign wit the Tc4.

You could try a 4-tec if you wanted a belt car.

I got a XXX-S. The 4-tec should be great!
