Hi everyone!
I have been hearing a noise from the tranny of my Evader, and have traced it down to the differential. It's kind of a grinding/clicking noise that does not sound good. I dissasembled the diff and there seems to be nothing wrong, except for some dirt. Is this O.K.? or do i need to rebuild it? Any help is appreciated.

try blowing that gunk out of there. If the diff went south, do a search on evader diffs, and there are ways to make it bullet proof.

i have heard problems of the evaders eating diff's.

the stock diffs are junk, i've heard of people blowing em out running a stock motor. If you add an ae b2 diff gear, and some other stuff you can make it bullet proof, and brushless proof

How would the b2 diff gear help? It looks like the same thing.

Try the following:

If the truck is new, that might be time to tighten-up the diff, but more than likely, this doesn't help.

Try taking the diff back apart and seeing if the diff balls look worn at all (discoloration, scratches, ect.)

Look and see if you are missing any teeth on you idler gear. If so, time to get THE single best upgrade for the evader, the aluminum idler gear.

Rotate the bearings for the whole transmission. I has a bad bearing in my old BX Pro, and I replaced the tranny with a spare one I had lying around.

If this doesn't help, you might want to try a diff rebuild kit. I haven't done mine, but I'm nicee to mine. That might help, and If all else fails, send it in to duratrax, and they might be able to hook you up with a new one. If you haven't yet, read the Evader fourm in the electric section. there's loads of info in their, and RC universe has even more information, but you have to register with them to read the fourm. I hope this helps!! :D

The b2 diff is stronger

yes, but can anyone show a picture or good proof that the b2 diff will fit, because I don't want this guy wasting his money if I can help it. :)

I've read the b2 and vader diff is the same size. I did a search on it.

Thank you, vaderbxman.

I took apart the diff again, cleaned the grease and dirt off the balls, and only two of the smaller balls were discolored slightly. There were no scratches that I could see, even under a magnifying glass.

I checked the bearings and idler gear in the tranny and they are fine.

I did a search on diff gears, and I read that the b2 diff gear will fit, but I did not find anything on the whole b2 differential. Is it rebuildin' time? :D

i think so. If you found a picture, description, or measurements for the B2 diff and a link to tower (I don't buy anything online from anyone else), then I might invest in this! If those balls were discolored, believe it or not, but that might be the culprit. Besides, replacement balls don't cost too much.

I went back on tower to lok for measurements for the b2 diff gear, and they said it has 49 teeth. The stock evader gear has 48. With an extra tooth, would there be any major size issues?

I dunno. How much extra room is in there?

There is about a 1/2 millimeter "wiggle room," so that would be 1/4 mm around each edge. There is not much room for the mesh between the diff and idler to get much tighter.

soooo, what do we do now? Do you want to try your luck with a new diff or rebuild your old one and hope this one doesn't break again? Maybe you'll get a stroke of luck and it'll fit, but I don't know.

I will try the rebuild kit and b2 diff gear. I found too many websites that said that the b2 gear works, so what the heck. O, and I found an aluminum one on ebay, number 320042841271 (I am having trouble adding a link). Is this one worth the money?

Dunno. If alot of people say this fits, go for it. it can't cost too much, or does it?

It costs $6, shipping included. They say it is made out of solid aerospace titanium alloy  Sounds like a must buy! :D

:wow: :wow: :wow: :wow:
sounds like a buy. Also sounds a little too good if it only costs $6 bucks! Go for it :p
