-I think good things to replace would first be the mechanical speed control with an Electronic speed control (esc).
-then I would get a new motor eventually I would suggest the trinity speed jems saphire (17 turn single) to replace that stinger motor that it comes with.
-get ball bearings to fit any of the bushings that came with the truck.
-also if you are going to play around with the truck get 2 sets of dirt hog tires, made by pro-line, for the front and rear because they work in the dirt as well as on the road and will last a really long time. and thats about all that I can think of for now.

First I would get ball bearings then an esc(tekin rebel reverse's are good) , new motor, proline dirt works tires, then maybe some hop ups just for looks like chrome wheels, bumper, new body.

No guys , me and 4 of my friends have rustlers and the best basic hop ups are a trinity p2k pro ( faster than any speed gems 16 turns and up) dont buy tekin !!!!!! I own tekin products and they are cancelling warranties and recalling most of their products .go for a duratrax streak for now
and in the future move up to a novak fusion or something . get 5x11 bearings instead of the stock5x8 because the weak little ones break like no other ( you will need to get SRT axle carriers on rear and RPM adapters on front and get proline blade or edge in front and dirt works or dirt hawgs in rear. but thats just basic . if you want to know everything ive done then tell me.

The Speedgem 17T is a good motor, but its not that much faster than the Stinger thats already in there, i'd go for maybe a 16 or 15T, and as far as Speed controls, the rebel is great for playing around. In my rustler, i like it geared at 87\22.
Have fun!!!!!
