hey whats up. im new to this site and also new to rc boating. I have flown rc airplanes for 6 years and ran cars and trucks for many years. anyway im just getting into the boat thing, and ill tell you im hooked. these things are bad a$% I already own a proboat miss elam and love it. Bought several vintage rc boat kits off ebay. the first one i am gonna build is the dumas deep v 40. my question is do i have to use the dumas hardware or can i use other companys? im kinda confused on what type i need. sorry about the long winded story. any help would be appreciated.

afaik you generally can use whichever hardware will fit the hull... of course one should keep in mind that big(read lots obatteries) boat hardware is by nessesity heavier and might cause cg problems on a small boat(oh right just remembered, you said dumas. scratch the bit about weight and cg :)) as for type it depends on what sort of drive set-up it uses(submerged prop, surface piercing, motor size etc.)

i wouldn't use the dumas hardware. have a look at something like speedmaster or aeromarine.

Call one of the larger FE vendors and discuss your needs, they can provide you with good guidance. In no particular order:

http://www.drcwebservices.com/ffe/hardware.htm
http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/MainPage.htm
