I'm looking to purchase the E-MAXX. I've been R/C'ing for quite some time and enjoy creating insane modified models. However, I have been out of the R/C scene for about 3 years due to lack of local racing.

Anyhow, I want to buy an E-MAXX, throw some cobolts in it and 20+ cells.

Any ideas as to which speed control could handle such a load?

Thanks for the time!

why dont you but 2 brushless motors in there then you might break the sound barrier

I think Astroflight makes some ESC's that are made for boat racing that can handle that stuff. Check them out.

Yep, Astroflight has exactly what you're looking for. Have fun, and tell us how it goes! :)

If money is no object, I suggest Aveox.
A pair of 1409/3Y motors, each using the max rating of 18 cells (use the 1000 SCR's), would be pretty darn insane.
My home brewed monster truck (check my home page (above)) has a single 1409/3Y using only 12 cells and it will beat almost any 1/10 scale off road car or truck in a drag race ... and it wieghs 9 pounds !
The Aveox motors, when properly geared, are amazing. With 2 of them in there you will need to gear really, really, really tall. I once put my Aveox in my B3 buggy, just to see what would happen. I finally found roughly the proper gearing when I was at a 35/72 pinion/spur combo ! Absolutely crazy !
If you are looking for top speed, you may want to consider the tire weight problem. Turning those big tires at super high RPM's has some very serious implications. They turn into powerful gyro's. As you may know, a gyro has this anomolous behavior called precession. When you give input to a gyro, output is delivered 90 degrees in the roation of the mass. In other words, if you turn the wheels (steer) when at high speed, the truck will flop in it's side.
The real monster trucks have this problem to some degree, but the huge tires are not really spinning fast enough to make a huge difference.
Hehe, sorry for the rambling.

Just wanted to say try RadRCs street conversion kit. They use 1/8 scale buggy rims and slick tires. That might help with what jeepinator was saying. But astroflight is the first one that came to my mind for an ESC.
