I have been using MVP almost exclusively for the past few months, and have found it to be outstanding. After experimenting with different gearing, I have settled on the following:

For a track that is rather wide open (few tight turns) I use 29t or 30t pinion on my TC3(72t spur). I use 30t on cooler days. On a tighter track, 28t seems to be the way to go. Plenty of acceleration, and still lots of high-end speed.

Under NO circumstances go less than 26t on an MVP. The motor really ***** at lower gearings.

I am going to experiment with a GM3, to see what differences there are. I love the MVP, but as we all know it can get REAL hot, and I do think it affects performance later in the race.

What gearing should I use? I have a TC3, and race at two tracks: One is rather wide open, smooth, banked asphalt. The other one is typicaly parking lot, changes week to week but is USUALLY smaller with tighter turns.

I've found my MVP to be very strong and fast. I gear it just like a P2K (18/88 in a XXXT) and end up smoking people on the straightaway. Now THAT is fun! I still have plenty of punch coming out of corners and gunning it to make jumps. The GM3s I had never were very strong, and they both burned up, even when I geared them low. I definitely recommend an MVP over a GM3.

Ok, since the MVP gets real hot in a tc3, how much more differance would the Large clip on motor heat sink make for the MVP?
