Ok, I have the bug. About a month ago I was up in Maine on Lake Pushaw on Vacation at my wife to be's parents lake house. Well why I was fishing this crazy war ship when passing by and went down the lake and came back. Boy was it cool. So now I want to build something like that but not to that extream. What I am looking for is a place to buy radios that will work for RC in the ham bands. A how to website with more info on the topic would be great. 73"s KB3LZV.

I don't see too many 50 Mhz radio systems around. I know of only one person in the area that uses them and probably did the conversions himself.
You will more than likely find it easier and cheaper to use what's currently available not on the amateur radio band.

The only radio I know of right now that can be used on the 50MHz band is the Futaba 9C Super II. You do need an FCC ham operators license to operate in that band.

Sombra Labs makes the Shadow 3 (http://www.kennedycomposites.com/receivers-sombra.html) receiver, which can be purchased on 50/53 MHz. FMA Direct (http://www.fmadirect.com/products.htm?cat=1&nid=11) also makes receiverss in the Ham band. KC8WPF
