Who makes the best hardware? Rudders, Struts, Turn fins and 1/4" drivelines.
Having hard time finding 1/4" struts. :)

Why do you need a 1/4" strut? A majority of the props that would be used on a scale boat are for a 3/16" shaft. As for who makes the best, for starters there's Speedmaster, Aeromarine, Prather, Octura, but stay away from Dumas

Thanks Hydro Junkie,
I guess just the shaft is 1/4", it must be reduced
down to 3/16 thru the strut.

I have been a member for years, not to mention a past UNW member. What would you like to know?

HJ,
What is the average weight and speed of your boats out there?

They can range in weight anywhere from about 12 to 20 pounds, though most are in the 12-15 range. There was one long ago that weighed in at barely 8 pounds. Most of the boats can hit to low to mid 60s, with some up to around 70, so I've been told. I've never put a GPS or gun on any of them, but I did see a gun display from five or six boats a while back and all were up in the 60's at the entrance pin..

HJ,
Does the Master Hull Roster allready include the + or - 10%? Or can I add
it on top of those numbers?

Looking at the NAMBA and APBA hull rosters, each dimension has the size of the real boat listed at the top of the column with the size allowances below in (). For the 1977 Atlas, it would read as follows:
Hull Number: 7701
Year: 1977-1981(broken down by which years the boat was U-1 or U-00)
Name: Atlas Van Lines
Length: 28-6 (41.75-43.75) 42.75 is scale
Width: 13-4 (18-22) 20 is scale
Tunnel: 7-4 (9.9-12.1) 11 is scale
Depth: 2-4 (3.15-3.85) 3.5 is scale
After Plane: 16-0 (21.6-26.4) 24 is scale
Picklefork Depth: 54" (6.08-7.43) 6.755 is scale
Since I don't know what boat you are working with, I figured this would give you the general idea. I figured out the scale sizes using the information given:)

Thanks HJ,
So I guess if this was my boat I could be a max of 22"? I'm doing an AVL 82,84, Circus Circus 79, Squire Shop 84. The Newton plans allready account for the changes, It's the other set that is true to scale.
So how did you do in the Gold Cup this past weekend?

Unfortunately, I didn't get to go. I spent last weekend getting ready for out of town company that flies in Friday, working on the "honey do" list and building a storage barn. I haven't even touched my boat in months:(

HJ,
Sometimes those honey do's pay off. ;) Looks like they had a good turn out.
I talked to Roger Newton a few days before the race, and he said they would have about 40 boats. That's incredable. The competition out there must be really tough. You better get back on the water!
Do you know of anyone out there that would have the paint codes for Circus
Circus? They were not in my plans. I also need a 82 Atlas cowling.

Hello, we do carry hardware for your 1/8 scale gas hydro. We will be coming with a adjustable strut for the Proboat 1/8 scale boat in November.
