Ya I have been looking at the 16x Pro 2.5 but there is only one thing that I am concerened with....... The charger sort of has a unique charging system and I race so I charge my batteries before I go to them and then when I get there right before my race is up I will pop the battery that I am going to use on the charger and let it re-peak so that it will have maximum voltage and runtime when I race the battery. And I don't know if the 16x Pro 2.5 is capeable of doing that.

I really like my Tekin BC112C charger. I payed $160 for it about three years ago so maybe it's now in your price range.

J man have you used the millenium? and what would you suggest for a power supply? I was thinking about getting the millenium and that AC to DC power switcher from DuraTrax, do you think that converter would be good enough for the millenium? Here check out the AC to DC converter here....

Go to www.teamnovak.com (http://www.teamnovak.com) for info on both chargers and recomended ways to charger ni-cd and nimh batts.

Sprite, you forgot EXPENSIVE! I could buy almost three of my Power Supplies for the same amount as a Novak N-Power, and it has better specs & is smaller anyway. I'm not saying the N-Power sux, I'm just saying it is way too expensive and kinda big compared to mine.

Well, If you have the money its fine. Atleast a millenium isn't $400+ compared to a CE 35 or so.

Can the Millenium be used of a normal 12v car battery? (real car)

Grizzbob
02-06-2001, 03:59 AM
Yes, it should work just fine off a car battery.... http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif

TufferWilde

Yes, the Millenium will work off of a car battery, but, a car battery is Not a regulated source of 12v power. A power souce is. There will be small fluxuations in the power coming from a car battery.

The car battery is a good way to start, and then go to a power supply is you do not have the money.

Personally, I have the millenium, but in the past I have used the Orion 48 AC/DC charger. The charger is simple and does a great job on peaking the packs, but does not include a display.

The Tekin 112C IS AC/DC, but will cost an arm and a leg - usually in the 160-185 range. This is another charger well worth the money. It will do any type of battery, is completely adjustable, but is large in comparison to the Novak unit.

As for power supplies and chargers, just like anything else in RC - you get what you pay for.

I took JMan's advice and purchsed the 12V/12AMP power supply from MPJA
http://www.mpja.com/product.asp?product=12422+PS

and it failed after one week. I'm returning it and buying a Rivergate or comperable. If you look around you can find a good switching power supply (30 amps) for round $130.00. Since the Novak N-Power cost around $120.00, it seems like the better deal to get a 30 amp for just 11 bucks more.

Hey is the Duratrax I-peak ac/dc pulse charger any good? The low-end one(50bux at tower) I've been looking at it as an alternative to The Vision/Mega Peak chargers from Dynamite, since Tower doesn't sell Dynamite equipment. I really wanted one of those chargers, but when I get ready to order, I don't want to be calling around to 20 different places.

If anyone is interested, you can purchase very reliable power supplies (exactly the same as the Rivergate Bulldog series) from this guy.

http://abacus.sj.ipixmedia.com/abc/M28/4ab32d69e467d85ba116734d1c/i-1.JPG

I bought the 30 AMP for $125.00. The best I've seen Rivergates priced at is $131.00.

Hi all, I just bought a Millenium and was wondering what is the best way to charge my good Fantom 1700's. These packs are only about 4 months old and running really good, just wondering what v threshold and all that stuff to set it at.

FactoryTeam Guy wannabe (that's quite a name),

I'm not selling anything. I actually just bought one of these. I received it today as a matter of fact and I'm very pleased with it. I just thought I'd pass on a good deal.

Actually, I wouldn't call this a Rivergate. It's made by a company called "Todd" and the have a factory here in the US that builds them and repairs them. I would guess that Rivergate licenses them from Todd. I've seen these sold under another name as well so who knows which is original. I just know that at $125.00 for the 30 AMP, it's a good deal. They have a life time warranty too.

Hey I am going to get the milennium and I think I am going to get the Hobbico 11.5 amp 13.8 volt power supply because after I get the millennium I will be kinda short on money and the Hobbico power supply is only 90$ so if anyone knows anything about that power supply please tell me!

SirSpeedy told me about this power supply. I really dig mine. It is a 12 volt, 12.5 amp little power supply that only weighs 1.5 lbs. The best thing is that it only costs $44.95. It can handle two Millenium chargers easy. It's definitely worth a look. A few of us here have them, and I'm very satisfied with mine.

Earlier in this thread, I posted my
expirience that power supply.

Well, SirSpeedy, J mAn, and I all have the same power supplies and they work great for us. No problems here! I don't know what you did to toast it in a week, but it must've been as fluke.

BigCatDaddy Outlaw, the Intellipeak is essentially the same as the Apex & Integy chargers, which is to say they're pretty good for the price, but if anything goes wrong, there's no guarantee you'll get good service for it(Integy's service is almost non-existant). If you're on a low budget, though, then it might be your best bet.... http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif
