First just want to say hello. I am new to this forum. I have a couple of questions. I want to use both Spax Stix and Faskolor paints for my next body. Spaz Stix colors are Gloss Black and Chrome. The Faskolor is fasred. Which brand should I paint first? Is there any process that I need to follow so that they don't bleed together? My plan right now is to paint the black(the main color),then the chrome, then red, then back it with the black. Finally sealing it with FasKolor sealer. Any advise will be appreciated.

Thanks

Definitely paint the black first, for two reasons. Black can show through nearly any other color that is laid down before it, and the SpazStix paints will sometimes bleed through Faskolor paints.

My advice would be to lay down the black, then the chrome, back the chrome with whatever they suggest. Next, the faskolor red, then back the whole think with white, not black because the black will darken your red too much and white will make the red brighter. Last, the fascoat.

Hope this helps.

Actually, you want to lay down your Spastix paints first since they're lacquers. You want to lay your chrome down first, then lay your black. This way, you can back your chrome in black.

Next spray your Fasred, then Faswhite, when done back everything with an acrylic silver like Pactra's acrylic silver (NOT their lacquers) or Faschome Satin. After everything has cured for a day or two, put down your Faskoat and you're set.

I was also wondering the same thing since I want to use faskolor paints.
If your putting Fastint Black on the windows how would you back that to protect it???

If you're racing, you can't completely obscure view into the body through the windshield and windows. So, dust Fastint on the body. Dust layer after layer until you get the opacity you want. The key is dusting, it's a PITA, but you have to dust it or you stand a chance of making the tint run everywhere. No need to back it.

I will not be tinting the windows. I like the untinted look for monster truck. I am using autocad to create my design then transfering them to a blank sheet of masking. Doing this will make it hard to paint the chrome first. So I will need to do the black first.

I was wondering, can you spray laquer over dry acrylic paint without there being some sort of negative reaction?

That is what I have been tring to find out myself. Don't want to mess up my body on T-maxx that I just finished building from scratch.

You can spray different types of paint over other types, but the first type must be absolutely dry.

That's the type of answer I was looking for. So I will probably spray one color then let it set 24 hours before I go to the next step. I am going to order all the stuff I need this weekend so I should have it painted in a couple weeks. I will post some pics of it then.

Thanks for the help.

You are safer painting the solvent based paints first but as long as you let the previous color dry thoroughly and paint in light coats you should be fine either way.

That is the way I have it planned. So I hope everything turns out right.

I would like to thank everyone that helped. The paint job turned out pretty good. I just sprayed thin and let it dry good.
