I have had my rc10 in the closet for 10 years, and now I am restoring her. Problem is that I have a bad power glitch/drainage problem. I posted earlier and was told to move the receiver away from my ESC as that can cause interference, they where right on top of each other. So I have done this, as well as replaced all my connections/plugs as they looked pretty bad. This has noticable improved the cars driving.
I was also told to try a different/newer charger, which I have done. So now I am better but still have way too much glithing going on and the battery seems to drain too fast. The last possibilty I can think of, without trying a whole new receiver, is that I am running the receiver and servo off the nicad. I did this a long time ago, dont remember why, but do remember not having this problem. Any advice on doing this as opposed to using a few AA's. Could this cause issues with interference and battery drain?

Thanks alot,
Dustin

As I mentioned in your other post, yes this is bad.
Why ?
You are not getting any voltage regulation. When the pack is charged, it is WAY too much voltage, when it is getting dead, it is too low. Also, there is no line filtering occuring (power noise is allowed through to receiver). This can cause glitching as well ... big time.

Are you getting stutter under heavy accleration ? I bet you are ! This is indicative behavior for direct connection from the batts to the receiver. If your ESC supports BEC, then you are actually doing something VERY wrong as the ESC is also attempting to provide voltage to the receiver. Disconnect your direct power input and see what happens. You may have a burned out BEC in the ESC requiring the direct connect ... a possible explanation for why it is direct connected now (the part you forgot) ...

Anyway ... GOOD LUCK !

And be SURE to check your dilithium crystals !

Thanks Jeep,
My next moxe will be to add a battery pack for the receiver and see how she blows.

PS:what are dilithium crystals. Are you talking about the frequency crystals. If so, how would one go about testing them? I thought they where plug and play, or didnt work at all?

Dustin !
You don't watch much Start Trek do you ? :p
Dilithium crystals are what regulate the power in the warp core. The warp core is used for propulsion !
Sheesh, kids these days ...

Just an idea if everything is that old you might want to upgrade your radio and esc and they should be on either side of the chasis everything should run off the main battery perhaps a FM radio Futaba, Airtronics etc. and a good entry level Novak or LRP esc. This would probly eliminate all your problems. :D
