You can use strapping tape (the tape with strings in it to strengthen it, find at hardware stores), in the weak areas such as the front wheel wells where bodies often crack. Also, you can apply some Shoo-Goo (hardware, wal-mart etc) first, then put the strapping tape into the shoo-goo.

I use joint tape. It is a wire mesh type of stuff, and you stick it to the body then cover it with a layer of shoe goo. It makes the body ver strong, and doesn't wieght to much either.

Should be able to get either kind at Meijers. Don't forget the Shoo-Goo, it is made to repair shoes, gluing loose soles back on and such, so it may be by the shoes.

you got it!...it makes them so much stronger too. i had an older subaru body on my tb01 that tore at the top of the front wheelwell openings,...tape and shoe goo, ran it for 2 more YEARS!!! stil have it as a matter of fact

:D Well, actually evaderstman said to use the shoe goo with the joint tape... not the strapping tape... so you may not get the same results. :D

(I know hijacker said strapping tape and shoe goo, but that doesn't sound as strong.)

Lol. You guys got nothin' on my old celica body:D

This thing was COVERED in cracks, rips, and tears. Around both front body posts there was cracks going all over for like 3 inches, the front bumper was split under the grill, the front wheel well was ripped all the way to the hood, the rear wheel well on the opposite side had the same, except to the rear window. One of the rear tail lights was almost smashed in.

I don't know what the heck I did to that thing, but I can tell you for a fact that all my other bodies have gone through more abuse than that! (which is not actually a lot). It being the first body I ever painted myself, I used some auto paint, which had a high latex content so it pulled on the body and made the sides bend inwards (touching the chassis on my TC3). The paint cracked all over within 2 days, and there was nothing I could do about it :p

I traded this body to my friend, who in return gave me his mercedes CLK DTM which was in comparably bad condition, and we tried fixing them up, with not much luck.

He did use shoo-goo and tape to reinforce it and all, but nothing could really hold it together (think trying to tape/glue a shattered window back together  )

The strapping tape and shoo-goo will work fine. My dad does this all the time before he ever races a new body 'cuz he can't keep the car off the boards.

I use drywall repair mesh tape. Then back it with shoe goo. Makes for a very strong repair.

Click HERE (http://www.quik-tape.com/home.htm) for a pic of the tape.

Click HERE (http://www.amazinggoop.com/) for a look at some other great GOOP products.

In most cases I actualy use the Automotive GOOP. Meijer does carry it too.

They also have the houshold goop where the super glue and epoxies are kept. Any of the GOOP products will do the job.
