View Full Version : Trinity P2k. Are these good dyno readouts?
I just bought a P2k, and since i have never raced using this motor, i have no idea if these numbers are good.
RPM: 28,203
Power: 121.0W
Eff.: 66.2% This is SUPER low, isnt it?
Torq.: 170Nmm Newton Meters squared.
This is what it reads on the label, but the brush hoods seem slightly misaligned.
In the trinity advertisements the GM3 has more than 30,000 RPMS, better efficiency, and 162Nmm of power. Whats up with that? Is it just me, or is it better than a P2k, in everything but torque?

Well, those are pretty good rpm numbers for a P2K, but the power & torque numbers look a bit low(the power numbers are probably lower than normal because of the torque numbers), but they're not far off. Actually, 66% efficiency is about what I see in most of the stock motors I test on my Robitronics, so I wouldn't worry about that. I really only worry about the efficiency number when the motor's for a 1/12 scale car(running for 8 mintutes), or if the number is incredibly low, like 40% or something. As for the Green Machine 3, I don't consider it a better motor, its just different. Its designed to have better rpm, but it sacrifices low-end torque to do so. However, it has more torque than a P2K at high rpm. If you get to look at a Robitronics data screen, you can see how much torque its making at various rpm & power levels, & you'll see the GM3 is actually catching up in torque at medium speeds, & at high speed it makes more, which comes in handy on high speed tracks where you need to carry speed through corners. With either, you can get them to be fast if you gear them properly, you just have to do it differently for each...... :)
Thanks for the help GrizzBob....I was worried there for a second. I think the higher RPM will help me a little at my track.
Thanks again, Grizz

One more thing, Isky. The Torque units are Nmm = Newton * Millimeters, not meters squared. Just so you know, Torque is a measurement of Force (Newtons) * Distance (Meters, or Millimeters in this case).
oops, sorry about the mistake, hehe...got a little confused.

my P2K reads this way...
RPM 27,669
power 127.4W
EFF 72.2%
Torq 184Nmm
just so you have another set of numbers to look at.
