Hi, I was wondering if crystals were interchangeable through brands. Say 75 Mhz Airtronics radio to 75 Mhz Futaba or 75 Mhz Jr Propo. If the frequencies are the same does it matter what brand the crystals are? And once they are out, how do you determine what frequencies belong to what brand? Is the writing different on the label? I am a little confused about this and will leave it to the more expereinced heads to answer. Thanks in advance.

pretty sure they will.
I know that the Futaba and the JR crystals do not work with each other. From what I understand, the way the receivers read the frequency is different. One brand measures the wave from peak to peak and the other measures from trough to trough.

From my experience, Traxxas crystals will work in a Hitec Lynx, but Hitec crystals won't work in the TQ. JR crystals don't work in my Futaba and vise versa.

Equipment variations are okay. My Futaba receiver works fine with my JR radio and Hitec receivers work fine with Futaba radios as well.

Generally speaking, no.
Sometimes you get lucky, as has been described by a few above.
A crystal is used to MODIFY the output frequency of a given transmitter.
The output frequency of the radio, at it's antenna, will be accurate (by FCC regulation). The internal frequency of the electronics is unique to each radio. It is up to the crystal to change the internal frequency to match the desired external frequency.
OK, why did I say all that ?
Because how, and to what degree the frequency is modified is different for each brand (they all have unique internal frequencies, remember). So each brand's crystals have a slightly different modification factor (multiplier).
This is probably not a 100% accurate description, but it is dang close. Some of my terms were probably off, but I hope you get the idea !
