Hello, I am not sure whom you are refering to (idiot), but that was not very nice !
Maybe I am that idiot ?

Anyway, there are very few places, and you just named them both. I like Aero becase it is outdoor (nitro cars don't hurt my ears or annoy me so badly) and the track changes more often. Do you want to play or be in the hobby shop ? Just becuase someone inside is an idot doesn't make the track bad, does it ?

Anyway, Aero is FREE (the vancouver track is pay-to-play) and I never ever break stuff at Aero, whilst at the Vancouver track I break crap all the time due to the stupid pipe joints they use. When confronted with this observation (that I break more stuff there), they responded rather childishly with "stay off the tubes"
Seeing that the solution is SO VERY SIMPLE, I can only conclude, based on sheer logic, that they are doing this on purpose as a revenue generator. Couple this with the fact that they charge you to play, I chose Aero more often then not.
Although the shop itself is MUCH MUCH better up in Vancouver ...

peace

do you work at Aerosports??

how old are you? the guy i was mentioning is younger (16 to 19)... he just has a "yer not worth my time.. i'm gonna give you a half-assed answer" attitude..

atleast everytime i've been in there he has.. the older gentleman is nice.. but he seems more into model planes/railroads/plastic models etc.. instead of r/c

I was just yanking your chain. No, I don't work there. I don't agree with your posting that this persn is an "idiot" though. Maybe he is, maybe he isn't. If your post was to warn people about him that would be one thing (then you would be required to post supporting evidence), but just to go off and do damage when it was not even your core reason for posting is a little silly.
But, no big deal.
The older guy is Leon. He has owned the store for like a million years. And, yes, the store was originally an airplane oriented RC shop ... They really don't have a focus now. Kind of a bummer because of the track and excellent location.
Oh well, to each his own !

the idiot comment was more off-hand comment.. i don't REALLY know the guy.. but i do know how he has treated me.. if i ask him a question i seem to be bothering him.. he once lied to me (i was looking for a wild willy and they had one for like 120 bucks.. sitting on the top shelf like a week before i went to buy it.. and he was like no.. there like 160.. and we've never had them for 120.. and i explained to him where it was sitting and he was like "no it was never there".. but it was.. and had been for months..) so I left and bought it at Tammies a few days later..

its kinda a shame because there the closest shop(other than waynes world of hobbies.. but they don't have much, but i've always got great service) but i get the worst service there.. plus they have a track.. now if you could just mix ultimate hobbies or tammies with the track and location it'd be awesome.. but until then i'll only buy fuel from them

so "idiot" meant more "bad customer service person"

What type of racing are you wanting to do? A-main in Van. has an asphalt surface that we run our sedans on. But the big problem is that there is NO traction additives. Despite the constant advise from the best drivers in region 11 telling him, Monty is not a racer and will not listen. The dirt track is very tight but extremely smooth.

Childish or not, if you could control your car enough to not hit pipes then you would not break. :p A-main does not do anything "wierd" with thier pipe coupling. You are the reason your car is breaking.

If you are an on road fan then check out RC Plus hobbies in Salem. Ron is a racer and runs the most professional operation around. This winter we have sedan heats in the E's and F's and b's for the 12th scale cars.

volvo98 attempted to make the following point
Childish or not, if you could control your car enough to not hit pipes then you would not break. A-main does not do anything "wierd" with thier pipe coupling. You are the reason your car is breaking.

I am not arguing that breakage could be avoided. If I REALLY did not want to break stuff, I would leave it in the closet. My car(s) have hit the tubes quite a few times due to driving error, I think we can ALL say this, no ? But not every time was it my error, other's errors can cause this as well. The simple fact of the matter is that the track bordering material breaks parts more often than other bordering material and the owner/employees have admitted this (with a smirk I might add). The list of possible fixes is lengthy:
1) bevel the couplings
2) remove the couplings
3) use a different material

To use a product that causes breakage is not a crime. To continue using it when you KNOW what it is doing makes me a little angry. If you are defending them because you work there, or whatnot, I apologize, but I am right on here. There is no argument.

The facts are:
1) The lane seperation material breaks parts more often than lane seperation material used at other tracks.
2) The owner knows this by his own words to me directly
3) The solution is easy and inexpensive
4) The solution has not been implemented in 3 years.

You decide if that is "wierd" behavior or not ...

Sounds to me like the Vancouver track needs to be boycotted. http://www.plauder-smilies.com/person/fro.gif
