Hey, I just picked up a new motor and I wanna know the best way to break it in. I didnt break in my last motor and it fried and died on me rather quickly http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/frown.gif. I have the Speed Gems2 15T Q. I read about the glass of water trick, but what technique works best for long lasting motor life? http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/confused.gif

The best way to break in a motor is to support it in a motor stand or something, (not a vice or something that will put pressure on the can, because it will cause the magnets do come out) and wire the motor directly to a 4 or 6 cell battery pack and let the motor run for about 4 minutes

With a modified motor, the only thing that'll need breaking-in are the brushes. As has been said, to do that, just hook the motor up to a 3-4 cell pack(or an equivalent amount of voltage), & run it for 30 seconds to a minute(depending on the brush compound, thr softer the brush, the less time it needs to seat properly). You don't need to do the old water break-in method, it does the exact same thing that we just mentioned, but doesn't do it any better.

You need to have something on the shaft of the motor before breaking it in. Buy a breakin cooling fan that pushes on to the shaft so that it is blowing on the motor when you break it in. A pinion gear will work but wont cool the motor. As long as you have some kind of resistence otherwise you could over rev. the motor.

Ever think of using a drill or a rotary tool to break it in.

Yeah I just got a P2K and want to know how to break it in. Would the drill thing work.
