Yes... But I still would find it hard to go anywhere near bashing a High Lift....

But I probably will.... ;)
I am absorbing as much info as I can, ready for when I collect mine off lay-buy....

Thanks for the walk through, Kevin.

Same here! Im learning as much as i can about this truck on a few other boards. I have one that needs paint and im waiting on my radio and esc:

http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j98/jamesbernatchez/Tamiya%20F-350/DSCN3938.jpg

Im probably going to get another in a month or so. Im hoping to have 3 before the new year :D One to keep in box for now, one to do light trail running and crawling, and one to go balls to the wall in mud, snow, water....whatever I can throw at it! Im probably going to throw a Novak Crawler in one too.

Sweet rims, James.... Who makes them?.

I got them off of ebay from a store called Supra Sales. Many people have bought them and I have two sets.

My rock sliders, tire holder, and roof rack should be getting a coat of paint tonight :D My esc came yesterday and my battery should be here today. Im hoping to be finished by Sunday.....we will see how I manage that.

scgracer- look one post above yours...that is where I got them. I should have my rock sliders, spare tire holder, and roof rack painted or at least started to be painted tonight.

Oh and I got these:

I think I bought out two Toys R' Us', 2 Targets, and a KB Toys today just to get some cool onroad tires/rims. I threw out the other onroad tires and off road tires because I didnt like them. Help me choose please

This:

Or this, yes its a spinner:

Just kidding, just kidding!!!! Now lets get serious. I did buy ALOT of flywheels and bought every package with an offroad tire in the above mentioned stores, which is a good thing. I always like having extras. Here is what I bought(one tire is missing because its on my aluminum rim):

http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j98/jamesbernatchez/Tamiya%20F-350/DSCN4037.jpg

Not bad huh?

The chrome rims came with those hand launcher things for.... get this......3 for $10 at KB Toy Works:nice: I got 6 hand launchers w/ a chrome rim/goodyear tire and a free onroad tire/rim along with a brake disc. I paid around $9-10 for each of the 4 packs. So in total I have two full sets of Goodyears/Orange rims and a full set and two spares of Goodyears/Chrome rims. I took some snaps of them all and also got them on a few of my RC Rims. I should have my HPI Black Stock Car Rims in tomorrow so ill snap a pic of that and show you how that looks too. The tires are a bit smaller than the stock high lift tires and are a bit firmer but the rubber is pretty stickey and I think it will grip very well in dirt, pavement, mud, and general trail running. The only thing I think it will perform worse at is rock crawling because there isnt too much sidewall flex. I LOVE THESE TIRES. I have to get some hexes to convert a set of the centerline rims for use on my truck. Im gonna have plenty of tires/rims to choose from. Not including whats shown, I just bought two sets of jero wheels/BFG's.

So whadda ya think? Was my purchase a wise decision?

Yep, for the flywheel wheels to mount you need to drill a hole and glue a hex hub inside. I ordered hex hubs today and will hopefully have a few sets of those rims mounted this weekend.

I finally got my truck and now waiting on the bearings to arrive from Boca Bearings. They're having a sale on all the different sizes this truck uses so it came to less than 42 bucks and they even shipped them for free! Gotta love it!

Now, just gotta get 'em here and start building. Workshops all ready to go, guess my TLT-1 is gonna be missing an ESC,, the Super Rooster should be able to handle a silver can I think,,,( only reversing one I have at the moment,, Oh wait! there's one in the E-Maxx,,,)

Any idea as to when the multi unit will arrive?

From Boca-Bearings,, the numbers are:
99MR115-ZZC (35 of them!) these are the 5x11 ones
99MR126-ZZC (4 of them) These are the 6x12 ones
99MR85-ZZC (2 of these) 5x8 ones
99MR105-ZZC (1 of these) This is one 5x10 that is in the kit. I found that out after I ordered the bearings and opened the box and found this one in the box.

Anyhow, they entered the F-350 into their database so you should be able to ask for a kit for this truck.

As for mine now,, the tranny and suspension is all built,, now working on the radio stuff. Trying to find sevos I know I have out in the shed, but someone MOVED my stuff around!! More later,,

I was thinking the same thing. The one I have now I plan to keep stock aside from the bearings, and motor. I'd like to buy another one, but doing some serious modding to the chassis and using some of the aftermarket stuff that is starting to trickel out into the market.

Well, the chassis is all together, working on the body now. Primer isn't drying very fast, lots of rain around here right now. Got the little bumps from the molds all filled and sanded, hopeing to get paint on it this weekend. I'll try to get some shots of t when it's done.

By the way, if anyone reading this is planning on buying and building this truck,,, get the bearings for it BEFORE you start. There's a lot of work involved in tearing it down to install them later.

Where's my Multi unit!!!?????

I don't know what I am doing wrong or even if it's me but the paint comming out of this can sucks. Yes its for this type of body and its off the Testors rack. Leaving a finish of nothing but orange peel. I seem to remember the same thing happening when I painted the Jugg body, but at least that thing had a ton of stickers to cover it up. Any ideas on how to maybe get this crap off? Or am I stuck waiting for 100 years for it to dry and then sand forever?

Try using oven cleaner to get the paint off. It's still soft and should come off with little effort. If the orange peel isn't too bad you can polish it out. If you spray the body again, try warming the can in a bowl of warm water first. It will increase the pressure in the can and allow the paint to flow better.

or get some tamiya plastic paints, they are easy to use and leave a nice finish

Dude, you need to sand between coats. I know, it's a loooong boring process. I've had good results laying 5 or 6 coats of color, then wet sanding and finally adding a clear gloss coat. If you have tons of orange peel now, just do a wet sand using really fine sandpaper. Then add a clear gloss coat. Sanding is the only way to get rid of the orange peel. You don't have to strip the paint...It's fixable!!!

The first thing is to get some quality paint. My past experience with Testors has not been positve at all. I think it's a case of junky paint.

If your gettting orange peel then your shooting too far away from the body.

You should be able to remove the paint with heavy duty easy off oven cleaner http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=34664&id=34

I recomend Tamiya line of TS paints. They spray in a nice fine mist and they leave a great finish. I used Tamiya Champagne and Mica red for my High Lift

The wheels are bruiserbuilder 1.9's He selles them on ebay.

to get a high gloss paint finish you need to use clear coats and wetsanding. take a look at this tutorial I wrote for scaleRC4X4

I know of one new Tamiya kit that comes with wheel bearings, the new M-o3M suzuki Swift. It comes with 8 5x10s for the wheels which is why its a little more than the other M-03 kits out there.

The heck with the sanding of that crappy Testors stuff. I got a whole new body. The stuff i used was enamel which really doesn't lend itself to sanding. So,, I gotta "basher" body and when I figure out what color it's gonna be, I'll have a "nice" body too.

Didn't realize how low first gear is. I got a Microsizer that can outrun the 350 in first!! I'm useing my Futaba 3PJ to run the truck with a Spectrum system in it. Nice not to have a big honkin' straw pokeing out of the roof.

Oh, where'd the crashbars come from on your truck? Look a lot like the ones on my brother-in-laws '95 F-350.

actually, a lot of Tamiya road cars now come with full bearings, but ball bearings nowadays are now very inexpensive to get.

Tamiya calls them bearings, but they are really bronze bushings. The kit came with 1 ball bearing for the motor, and lotsa grease for the bushings

Here she is with her Custom Rims.. again these are from an Original Tamiya Monster Beetle.. I've had them for many years waiting to use them on something.. I had to modify the rims so they would work. I took a set of rims and dremeled out the hex so I could fiberglass it the beetle rims.. It worked out quite well as it let me extend the tire out to clear the body. Still going to put a 3/8" lift kit on it too.

nice looking rig, the 3/8" lift to scale is about 3.75". on the other hand the moabs work out to be about 50" tall to scale!!!!! You cant stuff 50" tires under a stock F350 with 4" of lift without major fender surgury. i have seen 52s under a ford superduty with 6" of lift and there was basicly no fenders left! lol

there is a member who has at tamiyaclub.com the speed is the same as stock though. Longer runtimes though and greater torque it is a climber motor.

Anyone have suggestions on hop ups? So far I'm going to do the JunFac lift, all ball bearings, the futaba attack 4wvd radio, MFC unit when it comes out in May and possibly the Novak brushless crawler motor. I have a Spektrum DX7 radio and an extra AR6100 reciever I might try, anyone used this setup? You guys should have some good input by now considering its been out awhile. Thanks!

Got the lift kit today! :D The MFC-02 kit has been on ebay a couple of times but it sells within hours  So far I have the High Lift kit, Boca bearings and the Jun Fac lightweigt frame and lift kit. All I need is the Futaba Attack radio to come in off of back order and the MFC unit and its build time. This Jun Fac picture is my goal. I'll post some pictures of the build in progress if you guys want.

I have to admit that this truck is one of the best trucks on the market. Recently I was slighty bored with it so I fitted the truck with proline moab 2.2s and hpi racing mt mesh wheels. After taking it round to a mates place, I let loose on the mountain bike track and boy was it fun, the F350 certainly is very composed in all terrain. I wish I had a camera on hand to take footage of the truck being sent through some of the stuff I sent it through.

i felt the same bro the truck was so boring when I got it, but once I added in some other stuff (junfac lift kit, 2.2 tires, HV maxx brushless, etc....) its been more fun lately.

How does the transmission hold up to a brushless, I added a Tamiya dirt tuned motor but I want more, haha

I've been umming and ahhing about the junfac lift kit, its such an awesome piece of gear. Oh what the hell, I'll go an order one

if you want scale realism of course your not gonna get it with junfac i wanted a high performance high lift granted I could of gotten a emaxx, but I like realistic bodies also. The tranny holds up fine to a crawler brushless novak with 14 cells running through it. i will report probably next week with the HV maxx. The junfac setup rocks though I raised my body high has possible with its raiser. :D

Be super careful in second gear with a powerful motor. Basically, first and third gears have full gear cog engagement. But, second gear relys on only half shift cog depth. That puts alot of load on the transmission. Also, the HV Maxx is hugely powerful. A normal Novak brushless would be more than enough. I must admit, the HV Maxx looks awesome in the chassis, though. ;)

So, why is no-one going to four link suspension on their trucks? The leaf spring suspension is scale for sure, but terrible for handling. I made a simple 4 link for mine without much trouble.

I've never ordered anything from out of the US before but really want that junfac kit. Anybody had any problems ordering from them and how much time has it taken for shipping?

I had bought the Junfac kit with no problems! Shipping was quick considering it had come from South Korea. If you want the RPM wheels like he has in the last picture you will need his wheel wideners also. The only problem I have is the MFC unit needs a little modification to fit. Don't ask me how the final assembly went with the MFC unit because I'm not done yet.
