I posted this in aerobatics but i see that no one has posted in there since april :( A friend gave me a scratch built 3-D foamie bi-plane and I was wondering if my E-Flite 480 brushless would be too much for it, it has a 28 1/4'' span and is 30'' long. I am new to 3-D but am getting bored with just loops and rolls :D

A 480 brushless should be pretty hot for such a small foamie, but that's what throttles are for. You should be able to make it work as long as you don't automatically open it up to full throttle all the time.

Thanks for the info, would you have any suggestions for a prop? also do I really need to use li-po for this?

A 480 would be (in my 3d opinion) a little to much for that. E-flight makes a 370 outrunner (one size smaller than the 480) which should be a perfect mach; ie vertical, long flight times etc. As for the lipo, if you really want good 3d performance, a lipo would be your best bet. An E-flight 370 with a 10x4.7 prop, and a thunder power 1320 lipo would make a great setup for that plane! :) Hope that helps!-----Evo

eflite also makes a 400 and 450 outrunner between the 480 and the 370. big power difference between a 370 and a 480. jim
