Well....since you asked :D

What I really think about the hobby? Hmmm, well....I think it's a great way to get kids interested in learning about mechanics and generaly how things work. It's very rewarding to build something, then bash or race it, then build it again. R/C knowledge can translate into so many different things.

I started in this hobby when i was 12 (I'm 30 now) I had a Nikko buggy that I beat the snot out of. I had a bunch of toy grade rc's for a long time, then I got into hobby grade rc.

I pretty much love everything about it come to think of it. The only thing I don't like is when manufacturers blatenly use marketing to sell a product. For example....The "E-Savage" We all know is an "E-Ziila" with a HPI sticker on it. Don't try to sucker us into buying it because your marketing it differently now. Now I don't want to debate that issue, because thats not what this thread is about, but thats prolly the only thing I hate about this hobby. We are not stupid!!!!! If your gonna call it an E-Savage, make all the parts interchangable with the nitro one, and make it 8th scale!! A REAL ELECTRIC SAVAGE!

I always tell freinds, family,co-workers etc about our hobby. Weather they want to hear it or not. As far as your shop goes, I would tell people about it if I liked it. And if i didn't like it I'd prolly tell someone to stay away from it.

Just as a side note, I'm pretty close to Trenton NJ (Staten Island). So when you open your shop let me know and I'll come check it out.

And PLEASE BUILD AN 8TH SCALE OFF ROAD TRACK PLEASE!!! WE NEED ONE BAD IN THIS AREA!!!

im 17 years old and have been involved in the hobby since i was 13.
i think the thing that i love most about this hobby is how well the knowledge gained from working on rc car translates when working on fullscale cars, and much these rc cars have in common with thier fullscale counterparts.
the first thing that everybody notices when they walk into my room is my rc car. they always ask questions about it and if i have the time i am more than happy to give them a quick demo in my drive way. every time i drive my car on the street in front of my house, i always get a small audiance of people wanting to know what this little thing spewing smoke out the side is. lol i lovethe attention :D .
one thing that i dislike about the hobby is how people act like other cars are trash based on brand alone and not personal expierience. i dont see how you can talk bad about a car you have never owned  .

its great that we have another hobby shop in nj. i just hope that you have 1/10 scale nitro touring car racing too.

Hi, I think that its a great idea to open a shop in NJ. My cusin came over for 2 weeks, saw my car and got interested. I told him all about it, and by th 2 week I helped him choose and buy a new car for him to start off in. Now thathe gone home to NJ he would have more shops to choose from now ur opening one ^^. I am 13 i got into this hobby when I was 6. although there are alot of aspects of this hooby that I dont realy understand yet, I think that the best part is after a long days of working on ur car, u get to just go and have some fun with it. And that it also teaches u responsability to ceep ur car in good shape. Indoing that u also get to lurn more about the hobby!! But the one thing that bothers me about it is that sometimes when u realy need to get something for u car becasue it has worn out or broken is that.. there arnt alot of places to go and buy a replacement or an upgrade.. Whare I live My LSH is about 40 min drive. So I hope in the futer that this hobby will grow even more so that here is more opertunitys for pple.

I'm nowhere near NJ, but hey, I qualify as an "RC Driver" :D

Well, I, like many others, had toy RC's for a few years, and I went to a hobby show for the first time when I was 11 or so (15 now). They had set up a little track there and they rented out RC's for anyone willing to give it a go :) So, being as eager as I was, I tried it out and loved it. How fast they were, with such cool looking (and flexible!) bodies, and how much fun they were.... Looking back now they were TT-01's with 27T motors, but were a huge step up from what I knew as RC.

Since that day, I was very interested in the hobby, and when I got my first car (TC3) at the same annual hobby show the next year, I was hooked.

So hooked that my friends instantly became hooked too :p Five of my friends got RC's in the next few years, some more into it than others, but we had lots of fun.

There are tons of good things that I like about the hobby I can't even start to list them, but most of all I like the tinkering aspect and the gratification you get out of driving something you practically built yourself. And it's just so much fun :D I enjoy going to the local track, but I don't usually have the time, the money, or the means to go as often as I'd like, but still.

The only things I can say I really dislike about the hobby is things like little accidents that happen every now and then while you're working on cars (i.e. burns from soldering iron, superglued fingers, etc.)

But the one thing I love most is going to the hobby shop, and being completely surrounded by knowledgeable people and tons of RC's and stuff in this hobby that I love so dearly :)

...So, a hobby shop is always good :D

Good Luck with the shop,
-Dave :)

no where near N.J., but been at it for dang near 20 yrs. I give you credit for asking your local racers/bashers what they want....i wish all shops did that.
Any hobby shop i come across, i must stop in. Sometimes, they carry everything i want, sometimes nothing, and even if i am just passing thru, they always get a few of my dollars.
Keeps this hobby alive by keeping the shops alive.

best of luck,

Ron

I am 15 and started this hobby when i was 14. I have already got 2 of my friemds interested in the hobby. My only dislikes about it is the upgrades and fuel can be expensive. I really think the hobby is a good idea becuz anyone can enjoy it. I let my little bro drive around the yard somtimes and he loves it.
