View Full Version : FT B3 and rear turnbuckels???
Why did AE make it to where the rear trunbuckels hit the shocks springs. Am I doing something wrong or is this right way.
I turned the ball around on the hub carrier. This stoped it from hitting the shock but the turnbuckel is at a bag angle (looks like it will pop off easy).
So why did they make it like this, it's so stupid. Or am I just stupid?

bone stock it shouldn't hit at all (but it is a close fit)..... and yes, when you reverse the ball stud on the hub, it is at a very bad angle....
the only things i can think of are...
1. you are running a ton of pre-load on the rear springs, and the springs are flexing out a bit towards the rear hitting the turnbuckle....
2. the shock has too many spacers at where it mounts at the top (on the shocktower), moving the top of the shock to the rear, making the spring touch the turnbuckle
3. your rear turnbuckle is bent, forcing it a bit too far fowards and making it touch...
peace out.... :)
The car is a FT and has titanium turnbuckels that don't bend. and I have no sapcers behined the shocks. Also I have only 1/8 spacer on the per-load.
I have only ran the car 3 or 4 times and I built the car exactly as the book said. It has done this since I built the car. Whats wrong with this car? I will ask my LHS tommrow to see another B3 to campare cars.

i only drive AE... and i've had 2 FT B3's to this point... to help you further i would just have to look at the car...
other things to check... are you sure the shock tower isn't leaning back a bit (check and make sure the 4 bolts that keep it secured are tight)?? or that the bolts that the shocks mount to at the top aren't bent??
btw.. the Ti turnbuckles do indeed bend... usually they snap... but i've got one REALLY bent one on my FT B3 right now...
peace out.... :)

Make sure you have the hub carriers on the right side...right on right and left on left.

cha ching.... i knew it was probably something simple... (i just couldn't think of it... LOL).. good call rich....
peace out... :)
I've never heard of a titanium turnbuckel bending but hey I guess their is allways a frist time. Mine allways get hit hard enough to snap it :(
Yes Yes!!! I admit it, I'm a dumb a__.
That was the problem. Thanks Rich.
This is my 4th car first B3. All my other cars was the gold style RC10 besides the only one I still have, it's a TQ10 (fist graphite RC10) that I raced about 8 years ago. Took a little breakfrom R/C and thought I would start back up. After all those years of racing before I feel small enough to realy drive a 10th scale car now. :o
Thanks guys your a great help.

On my TC3, its not the turnbuckles that bend, its the ball cups. If you thread them slightly off, they can appear bent. You could try replacing the ball cups, it made them much straighter for me

I did the same thing when I first put together my B3. Thankfully, I only completed one side. It was a pain in the rump to take that apart. ARGGGHHHH!!
