This Kyosho Go-Kart was passed on to me buy a friend who has had it for over 15 years, he never used it much and it was kinda reduced to a bad state.

I couldnt restore because alot of the car is missing and parts for this kit are rare as there arent many around, plus i wanted something it could have fun with and changing into a 1/8 onroad street spec racer is going to be cool, and easy.

i dont like the fact that a man is sitting in the car also, when in fact its me doing the driving, i find him useless like the rest of the car such as the steering wheel and stuff which i have already removed.

The car comes with an awesome chain drive system which im defenatley going to keep, it also has no suspension or diffs, so its gonna be interesting and hopefully fun to drive.

The car came with cool extreme off set wheels and the tyres have huge side walls to give the car some kinda suspension, unfortunaley they might not last long as the tyres are old and completely un even and will rattle immensly. so ill upgrade to 1/8 foams.

This is the stock engine which will be replaced by a .21 Kyosho GSX21 as the GS11X is no way as powerful as i want it to be.

Ive dissassembled the car and these are the main parts i am going to use.

The chassis will be replace by a custom 3mm instead of the stock 2mm so that i can counter sink all the screws. The chassis will also be bigger so that it can mount the engine on the main chassis and not on a smaller seperate chassis, also a but longer so that the wheelbase is equal to a 1/8 onroad racer.

this is the basic layout

With that much motor you'll be looking for a better tire. Once you find a better tire you will find they are very weak around the "king pin". We were poping ty rods and couldn't figure why? Come to find out the wheels were folding under and poping the rods. I had extended the king pin and used doubro threaded rod and ends to connect it to the chassis.

oh right thanks..

yeah im gonna use different wheels for the front all together, like 1/8 onroad foams.

So you basically added the two tie rods to make it stronger??

Didn't have any choice, it got so bad every time you turned the wheel the ty rod would come off. That piece of metal you see in the plastic doesn't go all the way to the King pin. Its very soft in that area. We wern't running any where near as much motor as you want to run. In the US they came with an OS .10 (not the Kyosho engine). We were running CZ-R's (.43hp)

Old pics, before the additional rods.

Well, while i design the car if i have any trouble, ill do exactly what you proposed and mount extra tie rods... first thingi need to do is change the complete rear end as im gonna put racing 1/8 foam tires on and they have less offset so they will bind with the cog and chain, therefore im gonna move the cog to the center of the shaft, the car will be less wide put itll have the dimentions of a gas track 1/8 onroad car.

That looks sweet. Its prolly going to be almost impossible to turn when you get up to 20mph lol, it has no suspension but the tires.

I like that fact that your taking out the usless driver because i too like the striped down bearbones design with a little something something hear and there.

This looks to be a pretty cool project. I haven't ever seen a Kyosho kart before, so it must be rare! What I do not understand, though, is why you are throwing out the realism? Instead of a big block motor, try this: there was this one lay-down OS .15 or .12 engine, made about .6 hp, and was pretty cool. It was very low and sleek, and it would be very appropriate here. Try to keep it realistic, IMO. However, I am sure it will turn out very well regardless of which route you take!

Yeah the engine is big buts its also not very good, Itlll brobably only deliver 1.5 to 2 hp if im lucky even though iots a .21. The car is quite rare so what ive done is stuck it on ebay and it i get any realonable offers itll go for like 80 bucks (becuase there isnt much there and ots not very good at all performance wise in stock) if no one wants it ill defenately continue the project.

The chain drive is also going to have a cool clingy sound to it.

Unfortunately i sold the car on eBay as i do need money for a second buggy. So the project is closed but i will have a documented thread on turning a Buggy in a race worthy Truggy so look out.
