How long do the magnets in the can last before you have to buy a totally new motor?

Pretty much forever, but you will have to replace the brushes sooner or later. But you can do that without buying a new motor.

That's a good question... and I have no answer, so why am I writing? hehe, I've heard of a couple people with the Trinity D4's having their magnets go weak on them. I have never had this problem. The mags should outlast a couple cars.
However, there is magnet care. Always check them for cracks, scatches, whatever. I tightend a motor once, and had the endbell advanced too far, and snapped the corner off my magnet. Ouch! Talk about a lose in power!
So, if you don't hurt em... they should last a loooong time for you. Now, the bearing in the can... you may go thru a few bearings before you have to replace the whole can. :)

Oyster, you would be surprised, they can wear rather fast, especially when subjected to extremely hot temperatures.
Most P2K's, under consistant racing, will have the magnets go south within 2-3 Months.
THOUGH, I have had some real good luck with my Spitfire(Peak). It still is strong, going on about 6 months!
