I have officially gotten back in to RC. ( the last RC car I had was a Tamiya Frog, and as I see things have gotten a bit different out there. Please help me with a few things! I have a digital intellipeak charger, and I am confused.
1. You can set the switch for output voltage, output amps, and mAh capacity. Should the readout (in capacity mode) match your battery mAh? Because sometimes the readout is 200 more than the battery!
2. Should the voltage readout be the same as the battery (7.2) when the battery is fully charged?
3. As I understand, Nimh packs should be stored with half a charge, and Ni-cd should be stored fully discharged, right?
That is all. I appreciate any help.

The capacity reading will generally read a little higher than that which is listed on the battery on average. Of course if the battery is already partially charged, the mAh reading will be lower. Likewise with the voltage. The voltage reading is always higher during the charge cycle, and it's likely to be higher than rated even when the pack is fully charged and disconected from the charger.
You have the basic storage information correct. If nothing else, just make sure you don't leave the Ni-MH batteries sitting without a charge for an extended period of time, and don't trickle charge them.

Steve's right on this one (of course). The capacity feature is nice, though I wish it could figure out the current mAH rating for a battery that is just plugged in (probably only the Competition Electric charger can do this). Normally, the battery rises to around 9-9.5 volts, then will drop into the 8 volt range, which is perfectly normal.

When ever I buy a 2400 pack it usually says about 2492 mAh on the label. Its probly the same with other packs. They all cant be exacly 240o mAh. On every matched battery I have (9) they all have about 2000 or above 2400.

The Novak Mellineum charger gives you all the info you need ie mha ,voltage ,etc. :D
