I'm planning on getting a speed gems motor for my TL-01 Chassis.Does anybody know how fast does Speed gems 2 goes?
And one more question.I also have one of those GM V4 digital speed controllers would they work with a speed gems 2 or should i stick to the origional tamiya mechanical speed controller (most of the pros use that on the track sealed in this clear plastic case)
Here's a pic to see what i mean about the mecanical.
Thanks :D

your car's speed will depend on what speed gems you will use. i think the fastest is the zircon (9 turns) and the mildest is sapphire (19 turns.) if youre going to use a modified motor, use the esc. im not sure if your gm4 esc has a motor limit but if it does, get a motor that it can handle. i saw one guy in our track with a tl01, a 9 turn motor, a cyclone esc, and a 3000 pack. his car was really fast. if youre gonna use a hot modified motor, get the smallest pinion for the tl01 so you wont overgear it.

TA03 Drive Hard: oh yeah, it was really fast! i have 10 turns on my tc3 and i have a hard time keeping with him in the straights.

Mason Copeland: 17 turns? well, i thought i saw in trinity's ad that it was 19 turns. anyway, how was the sapphire? i plan to get a couple on my jug2. but im still no sure what to get, 15, 17, or 19 turns.

Tokyo kid- they are very cood as long as you keep them clean. I would say use the esc, on the grounds of it frees up space and weight, making the car lighter

Your right the highest speed gems is 19t but someone said that the sapphire was the 19t but the sapphire is the 17t. Oh, and how does it perform? Excellent. In fact RCCA uses it in a lot of PROJECT trucks! I guess it gives the best speed with the best run time. I replaced my p2k pro in my t3 with the sapphire. And there is a very noticable difference in speed and torque. In fact it was so fast and I was not used to it and I broke my servo the first time out! Yah, I know it is not the fastest motor and I am not the most experienced or best driver. Oh, and I get close to the same run time with it. And I thought the p2k was fast...So to answer your question, yes I definitely get the sapphires for you Juggernaut. And for two they are about the same price as some other motors!

Tadium, do you have the speed tuned gears and/or the carbon prop shaft? I have a tl01 with the 16T Ruby in it too, but only stock gears and prop shaft...and I can't help but think that I can get mine to go faster with the same motor. If you have them, do they really make that much of a difference in top end for your tl01?

Thanks.

Well, I can attest to the speed of the Speed Gems Sapphire 17T Single. The motor is indeed fast and has great torque. I opted to replace the one I had in my electric Traxxas 4-Tec with a Trinity Monsters of Touring 17T Double. Both of these motors will give you great top end and acceleration provided you gear the car correctly. Your ESC should be fine. I am using an XTM Sportsman ESC in mine and it handles both motors well. I am using an 84 tooth spur gear and a 28 tooth pinion. This gives me good acceleartion and top end. Don't discount a competiton stock motor either though. I also use a Trinity Green Machine Pro 3 in my 4-Tec and the speed is quite impressive although not as ballistic as the modifieds I use.
