Please Help

I run a orion stock chrome with a 96/27 ration and the car takes off doing like 30 for 20 seconds but then takes a steep drop in speed and stays like until the battery runs out. its not the batteries because i just got new ones,and i dont think the gears have anything to do with it. so im beinning to think that its the engine, so if you have any ideas as to what would be the problem, please reply.

What car, on road, off road? Sounds like big overgearing to me, but need more info on setup. By the way it's electric motors & gas engines. Sorry, pet peeve of mine.

i dont think its over gearing on my part. My local hobby shop says that my gearing is fine. I run the orion with a novak explorer II in an HPI RS4 Sport 2.
