If you're just bashing/racing with friends, then I'd get the P2K for a stock motor or a Trinity Speed Gems for a mod. What kind of car ? I'm not quite sure how old the Novack T4 ESC is. Does it have a motor limit?
P2K or a Speed Gems are under $30 a piece.

A trinity P2K stock motor. The Pro version is already broken in. if you want to spend a litlle more and get a mod, I would suggest the Chameleon. It is about $40 from Tower, but has ball bearings, removable endbell for easy maintenace and is a mild mod (19 turns) and your ESC should handle that. That's just my opinion though.

get a rebuildable stock motor. this will be fast enough yet will not strain your esc.

The T-4 didn't have a published motor limit in its time(no ESC's did, they just listed the max & continuous current & "On" resistance), but when I had one I was using down to 17 turn motors, so your might be ok with one, but I'd be VERY cautious about using anything hotter than that. For now, I agree that a good stock motor like the P2K would be the best way to go, & if you need more just get something marginally faster(say a 19 turn Speed Gems or Chameleon) until you start to notice the ESC getting kinda hot after a run. If it runs fairly cool, then you're ok with the motor you have(whichever it is). Oh, & to give you younger guys an idea of how old the T-4 is, it was THE ESC to have when I got started racing in '89..... :)
