Ok, I have a ParkZone Pipier J3 Cub, it includes a battery and peak-detection car charger. If you charge your battery more than 12-24 hours before you fly, you have to re peak it. I use a 2 1/2 hour wall charger I bought seperately since my flying field is so close. Now my question is, can you re peak with a wall charger? If so, how do you do it?

Hi Darkling,
I generally put the pack on the wall charger for 1-2 hours before a session. I have never seen a clear rule that deals with re-peaking a pack when you are not using a peak detecting charger. A few hours on the wall charger is conservative, and is not likely to do any harm.
Cheers, Dave

ok thanks, kind of what I thought, beacause one time I discharged a battery by running my plane in my room with some stuff in front of it and it still ran for almost the normal time, even though it had been charged a few week earlyer. Thanks :D

hmm, I've come up with a theory, correct me if I'm wrong but, since I'm using a wall charger instead of the peak detection charger, the wall charger won't get it up to it's peak anyway, so it won't matter if I charge it an hour before I fly or a week. at least, that's my theory lol :P

Hi,
The wall charger will bring it to peak. The risk is leaving the fully charged battery connected so long that the chemicals inside begin to be heated and pushed out, reducing the pack capacity forever. A moderately short period of charging at the rate of the typical wall charger is completely safe.
