Anyone over just drill a small hole in your brush face for a makeshift cavity brush? It seems like a logical thing to do, but thought I would field some opinions here before I ruined a set of brushes and possibly a comm.

It might work, but the brush will be ruff and tahts bad

NRT, yes, i have done them before, and it is a great way to get those extra RPMs in that stock motor that you want. I have also slotted my own brushes with no problem.

It just takes a steady hand, and patience! Use a very small drill bit also, and if you could, use a dremel, it makes life easier, and they are much easier to handle.

Also, there was only normal wear on my comm.

Thanks XXXer. I thought it had to be a simple process. I am going to try it out on a set of used brushes and see where I get. I think it would be a great experiment for someone with a dyno. A person could really pinpoint the best configuration, size hole/slots etc.

I am not sure why it never occurred to me to just take a 1/2 spent set and try it on them. Duh. Thanks XXXER and hopefully this will be the trick to get us down the straights a bit faster than the rest of the guys. We ALL use P2K's on our Dual Sports in a "spec class" kind of racing. This may be the edge I need to break out of the pack. The cars are all so darned even all around the track.
