Man...I have to say that since getting my first ever RC car (NTC3) a few weeks ago, It's taken like 98.999% of my free time! It's either running the car, messing w/ it, reading RC mags, browsing around these forums or ebay looking for parts :D! IT'S TAKING OVER...
Share your experiences...lol

For me it's also an obession. It has taught me many things over the years. I hope to be interested in it for a very long time. Seeing the technologies get better and better is simply amazing, I can't get away from constantly reading about that, and in many cases running the new techs myself.

oh gosh. I love my rcs. I have been into rcs for awhile. I was into the toy rcs then my parents bought me a stampede. I liked it but when the speed controller whent out i had no clue how to fix it so it went to the side for like 2 years. THen i got a tmaxx for christmas this year (im 15 BTW) and i have been obssessed ever since. I now have my original tmaxx (lots of upgrades and custom homemade hop ups), 2 revos(one needs an airfilter havent run it yet. bought it as a roller and built up, the other is a roller minus front left suspension. its going in storage for awhile till i finish the first revo) i also have a nitro rustler (i got used in a trade.I love it. Its running great). I have also owned another tmaxx roller and nitro vee, and i sold my stampede, oh yeah and i also had an HPI rs4 which i hated and never got running. SO really i really jumped into the hobby after getting my tmaxx. FOr somereason my pede just didn't do it.
SO after really getting into hobby rcs last christmas i have owned 8 rc vehicles. Oh and i am looking at a few more. My parents get mad sometimes and say im obsessed. I am going to have to sell off a few though. SO yeah im addicted. LOL

I started a little over a year ago with a cheap Magic wheels truck(T-Maxx knock off). Right now I have roughly 18 cars/trucks and buggies. In the last year I have probably had well over a hundred different RC vehicles. I just started racing this summer and in 2 races I have 2 TQs, 2 wins and a third place(I raced mutiple events). I have met some great people, some of them right here on this site. My wife and daughter are also involved so it's a family affair!! Check out the "Pictures of your trucks" thread and you'll see most of my stuff.

addicted????? THERE'S an understatement! Obsession, my "fix",.....i cant walk past them without looking, grabbing, touching. Recently, i switched my tourer over to drifting....in two days, i cycled 22 packs thru it.....when time allows, my stampede sees 3-4 packs a day, my nitro's have seen as much as 11 tanks in day, ect. I eat, breathe, sleep r/c, have for almost 20 yrs. Now that i am laid off,....oh my, its even worse! i check this forum on average 15 times a day, and scroll thru countless websites...

Oh man! I love my R/C's and everything about them. Driving them, cleaning them, and taking them apart. I started off with a DuraTrax ST and from there its been all better. I've must have owned at least 20 r/c's past and present. I'm always on the forums, refresing the classifieds to see any new thrads so i can jump on them. Also alot of time looking on eBay, magazines and organizing my R/c room. Wouldnt trade it for anything!

im so obseesed i just finished with all the upgrades i need on my b4 and fully restoring a blacktub rc10 all there is left is running them.now im looking to buy a tc4 LOL
i like to build, tune and put the most expensive upgrades them more rather than run for some reason.being back though in this hobby since 2001 from when i was a kid in 1990 took a while to reteach myself and dyno on the new technologies.its alotta fun,i school all the kids dads in rc knowledge when they walk by seeing me run out front that now theres a frida/saturday street bash of 16 cars running around.

I got so addicted one time (when I was new) that I want to buy all the new things that shows up in RC Magazines. There was one point I just bought a new RTR monster truck, hardly ever used, then sell it so cheap just to fund my "new" purchase.
As suckfish wrote....its like a junkie needing his fix, LOL.

Well i started with an electric rustler about 6 years ago... and now after owning over 45 different vehicles(onroad, offroad, heli's, electric, nitro, 1/18, 1/10, 1/8, etc) Im still addicted:) Granted every now and then i take a break if i find something new i like but i always end up returning.
I get in moods- like lately ill only run nitro because i think electric sucks( i dont really hate electric, ive owned plenty and had a blast with them) that you have to wait for batteries to charge, there is no noise/smell, etc. But then ill see an electric run( actually a XX-4 that was hanging with my truggy on the back straight at my track) and ill want one. So i traded one of my truggies for a xx4 setup and now ill go buy a bunch of stuff to compliment electric.
Fun Fact of the Day: Ive never raced electric during all my 6 years of this hobby, only nitro. I have owned a good amount of electrics but somehow managed never to race :)
The main reason i do it is because its fun and your actually learning alot about how things work, and you might not even know it. One thing i like to do and that makes me feel like im making a difference in the hobby, especially when im at the track, is to help people out who might be having problems. Even just giving them some pointers or tips...or maybe helping them put that new pull start on because they have no idea how you do it, little things like that make me happy. Plus, i know if i can help them get up and running and they leave with a smile because of all the fun they had, you can guarentee that they will be back sooner or later. To top it off, it puts out a good word that the people at the track are friendly and helpful.
My local track in Wolcott, CT - www.wolcotthobby.com - is full of awesome guys. The people that run it are great and are very friendly and helpful. Everyone that runs there is not afraid to help out somebody having problems and that makes for a really fun time. No wonder its growing in popularity!!!

I have been in and out for almost 10 years. The most RC's I have had at one time was 5. I try and stick to 1 or 2 at a time in order to keep the cost down. I usually swap between RC's and 1:1 drag racing.
Your not alone in your addiction!!

I'm so damn addicted that I check out this forum every single day.... :D But there's so many things that I need to be into also... (I'll be back to college in a week, need to practice more fingertapping on the 12 stringed, need to take more care of my 1:1, cut that F**** grass, my dog, and soccer coaching.) It's hard to balance everything, so my RC is stopped. It's been almost 6 weeks now. :(

Where did u get the head lights from, Yokomo or were they custom made? I remember u saying u were using 6mm offset wheels w/ it. It would be cool if u could post a pic to see what it looks like. Other than that I enjoy the updates, good job man... !

Im only 14 and ive owned 3 r/c cars in 4 weeks. I traded my Mini-LST for a tmaxx with a messed up half running motor. Its apart right now awaiting the 2.5r i bought on ebay from rcwaffle... anyone have any communication issues with him? i bought it on like monday and sent payment 10 minutes after and he/she hasnt responded to me about when its gonna ship out and im very impatient. I also have one of those POS IRC Vulcan 1/16 scale nitro cars. Stripped diffs and missing a dogbone that fell out while bashing... First nitro and i hate the thing.

thats a bada$$ ride. how exactly did you set up your lights on the Z. im looking to do something like that as well.
z-man280
08-21-2006, 09:25 AM
thank you.
well, obviously, you leave the head/tail lights clear during paint.( i know, kind of a given).
HPI supplies lexan buckets for the headlights, but nothing for the rear, so that is where you have to get creative.
The headlight bulbs are 5mm clear, the rear are 2mm, very small. Find yourself some aluminum tape, cut a oblonged heart shape, but not too wide, the lentgh of the rear lights. Bend it down the middle, taking te "flaps" of the top of the heart and joining them, it will make what looks like a funnel, cut in half. Poke your LED in the middle, and hot-glue it in place. beign te tape is very sticky, it will stick to the underside of the body, where you can hot-glue that in as well. Apply the taillight decal, and you will have the effect.
As for the front, i simply covered the bucket in aluminum tape as well, and installed the clear light in the same manner as the rear, but obviously, no light decal.
i took a receiver battery holder, and cut out the rib that seperates the "aa"'s, removed the spring, and soldered in a 9v adapter. the other side i left as-is. the result is 12v...with a 9v and 2 AA's. you can velcro to chassis if you want to remove un-wanted weight or zip-tie, ect.
check the vid of it at night, and you will see how it really adds to the realism in my opinion, sorry for the poor quality tho, its a digital camera taking footage.

I sleep - very minimally now - with a 2.0 mm hex driver in my left hand and a 2.5mm in my right ... and a Hobby knife between my teeth :-) LOL ....
Making these : Tazer PRT Truggies in Titanium and CNC Alum and Carbon Fiber ....
Pretty much finished up #2 of 5 Tazer trugs rolling out this month for peeps. 3 more ta go ....
Sent all the CNC and even the Jammin Big Bore shock caps out to be stripped and polished - really only ONE picture I got captures the essence of how gorgeous the polish turned out. All the other photos have a funky glare or show miniscule metal grain - that frankly you dont see in real life.
Features DACE Center Braces & KMW's new Jammin CRT Big Bore shock bodies - look absolutely siiick!
