Though I didn't here much about the RS4 MT, most of what I read was negative. What's the deal?

it ***** , i got it as a second car, here are the main flaws:
-very hard to work on, you have to take apart the whole rear end to get to the diff, or other parts back there
-belts, what more can i say
-the inner body, you fry with it on, and you ruin the belts or break other stuff without it on.
it kills motors, its like a tc (which does) but with i would think double to tripple the rotating mass, which equals alot more stress. i think i killed a motor a week for about a month. then i got a p2k.
its pretty durable though, great jump truck.
but it just doenst have a niche, its useless. until it becomes a real class, its a not worth getting, for a basher get a nitro, its actually cheaper in the long run. and with all of these web sites up, and the quality of everything, its very easy to. try out the nitro mt, its well built, has lots of upgrades out there, has a huge forum devoted to it (at hpi's site)
or actually for about $50 more, once you get it running, check out the nitro quake.

I have had no problems with mine. I've had it for over a year now and I have put a 2 speed trany in it with a Speed Gyms 2 15t Q.
Mine is very fast. I don't find it that tome consuming to get the rear diff out either.

I had one about 2 years ago and found it to be a blast to drive. Drifts real easy on dirt with the stock tires and finds tons of grip on the asphalt. Jumps like a pro and turns on a dime. The only problem I ever had was when the radio equimpent glitched and sent my car full speed into a railroad tie.... snapped the front of the chassis off. No big deal though. Fixed it easy and was on my way again in no time.
I really enjoyed my MT and recommend it to anyone who want something other than a tourer.

what are you getting it for? and if you get it i HIGHLY SUGGEST getting a heatsink motor plate and front cvds, also you will thank yourself later for investing in allen screws, i stripped soooo many stock ones.
but since it was my second car, i really didnt take care of it, and it ran great for 3 months without mateince.
however i would get good belts too, the stock ones, espically the front, got wayyyy loose after 30 runs, and its a pain to replace em.
but its durable.

It's nice!!!! I've had mine for about 2 years. You should see this thing jump. Just nail thethrotle through the whole jump it will stay nice and even and land on all four. The only grip is that it has to be cleaned throughly about every year. Also if you do break the chasis Hpi replaces them for
free!!!!!!

I've had mine for about two years. It's extremely fast and a good jumper. Fairly durable but a pain to work on the drive system. I've always run it without the inner body, I almost never run it on dirt. I would buy another one if I needed an electric "fun" car.The main advantage for me is that it's fast and quiet. When I run nitro around my apartment complex my neighbors freak out.

i have had one for about a month now. keep in mind that i am compairing it to a stampede.
the body is to thin..cracks easy
i have broken the inner body so it is now gone.
broke a tie rod end on its first run, replaced both with traxxas parts.
camber links have to be aremoved to be adjusted
have yet to find aftermarket hop up parts for it(other than HPI)
in my opinion the stampede is tougher but i am not able to run it on our off road track yet to see how it does. Also haven't jumped it yet. but the light road racing it has done it has run good and been prety fast

I use a 2 speed on mine. It works perfect.

Can I use an HPI 2 speed transmission off road? I heard its for only road driving but I dont see why I cant use it off road. Also, why cant I just put a bugy body on it and race in the 4wd buggy class?

I built a Losi XXX and an RS4 MT. Last week I raced for the first time. Even though the XXX is faster, I chose to drive the RS4 MT because the 4WD handled well. Out of 15 drivers in the novice class, I finished 1st!
I need to get dirt tires for it, because I agree with the guy that wrote that the stock tires are better for on-road than off-road.
I also agree with the guy that suggested allen screws instead of the phillips head screws that came with the kit. I nearly stripped a few of the kit screws.
The guy who said that it eats up motors may not have used the right gear ratios. You really have to read the directions carefully. The gears that come with the kit aren't meant for a stock motor. I changed the gear ratio prior to putting the truck on the track.
The guy who wrote about the truck not really falling into a good racing class was also right. The track I go to only has stock car, rally car, novice and stock truck classes. They would probably let me drive the 4WD in the stock class, but everyone else has 2WD.
The guy who wrote about the inner body heating up the internal components was also correct. I don't use mine for that reason. However, I can't say that the external body provides less protection than any other truck body.
All in all, I love the truck. However, I know that the XXX is an easier kit to build, maintain, and race.

You came in first with the MT. That's awesome. http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

My solution for the over heating inner body was a air scoop. I cut the area were the sticker went and made an air scoop with some flexible plastic. This allows the air to flow over my ESC. I also cut the back of the inner body to let the air flow out past the motor to help cool it as well.
