All the posts here about the Mamba Max really made me want one, so I ordered a 5700 last week, but I don't have a vehicle to install it in yet. I'm looking at a few different trucks that it will fit in, but I really have no idea which one is the best choice for my usage and the Mamba. I'm not a racer, I only use my stuff in my yard and in parks, ball fields, etc. Definitely some cut grass usage. Anybody have a recommendation for a truck that can handle the MM power on grass? I've been looking at the Losi XXX-t MF2, XXX-4, Associated RC10T4 Team, Tamiya Dark Impact, etc., but I'm not sure how the low ground clearance will impact the truck on grass.

Would I be better off with a 4x2 or 4x4?

Have you thought about the new Rustler? It should be even more durable than the previous one. I've got the 4600 system running on 4s Lipo (BEC disabled) in my non-stock Rustler, but I'm not sure that my Rustler counts as a Rustler.

The Dark Impact definitely doesn't have enough ground clearance for grass. There's no way that I can drive my DI with the 5700 system that's in it on my front lawn.

I run a rustler myself (the old one). It's pretty much a tank. I run mine almost every day with a a pretty powerful brushless system in it and haven't broken a single part in about 6 months. So the new rusty should be even more durable!

With some big tires any ST would be fine in grass, especially cut grass .

For just bashing around I love my rustler. :D

The new Rustler does look nice, but it doesn't look like it's available anywhere yet. I called Tower and Horizon, but neither can tell me for sure when they'll have them.

Thanks for the info on the DI. The same will probably apply to the Losi XXX4.

I think thats a little more power than a rusty trans likes be ok for a while but keep plenty of trans gears on hand . Go for a T4 you can usually find one at a decent $$$$ on Ebay

Thanks for the tip. I definitely don't want a driveline that's too fragile for the Mamba.

Nah, the rusty tranny is a tank just like the car, to an extent. I run a brushless on my stock tranny except for an aluminum idler gear and I've never had a tranny fail. I few people around here have though, less than a lot of other st's though.

I would recommend a T4 only cause I have one I guess, but the new rustlers do look nice. The T4 will easily handle the power because it's the gt tranny. As for overall durability, I drive the T4 as hard as the gt no breakage. Get the T4 if you have the slightest thought about trying racing, and get the rustler if your just bashing.

How does a T4 do on a cut lawn? Does it have the same ground clearance as a Rustler? The Rustler tires look bigger, so they might be better for grass. Are tires/wheels that size available for the T4?

Thanks for all the help!

You can buy larger diameter tires that will fit on the standard T4 wheels. Pro-line Moabs or Masher 2Ks for example.

if your just bashin around forget the rustler or any of the st's go with the Stampede its its a tank just like the rustler but more ground clearance due to larger tires
Just my two cents

I wouldn't run any 1/10 buggy or stadium truck on grass. It's tough on the motor and esc and causes high temps. If you have to run on grass, you should look at a truck. Maybe a Stampede or something like that. Just don't expect to be doing any super high speed runs with something like a Stampede, but it should do OK on grass.

Well, you will not get ideal performance out of either the rustler or T4 on grass, if it's cut though (like touching the wheels only and not brushing up against the a-arms) it should be fine. I ran my T4 in less than ideal grass (at chasis level) today and yea it got warm. Like chopster said it will tax the motor/battery/esc.

HPI's 4WD stadium truck was the RS4 MT, but I think it has been discontinued.
