Got bored today, so i put the TB-01 back together, stuck some caulk in the front diff,( makes a very nice LSD) and some two-sided tape in the rear to "lock it up", ( and WOW does that work nice!...and is reversible)...grabbed some assorted tape and commenced to drift :D .i had no idea how much fun that is.......i am still smiling!! :) problem is, tape wears out FAST! how and what size pvc pipe are people using for this, and mounting?
i dont know if i like it enough to buy drift tires, and because i cant stop there, it would mean a new body, wheels, lights, neons, the whole nine yard, because i have no idea how to stop myself !!!!! it would have to be done up "full on", or else i wouldnt want to do it at all.( just how i am, i go to extremes with everything).
Either way, for those of you who havent tried it, i had no desire to, and figured i might as well see what all th hype was about....OMG what a hoot!!! i laughed the entire time!!!!!
( by the way, not all tape is created equal...electrical tape gets WAY too much traction, but clear packing tape works nicely)

Sorry for a worthless thread starter, it was just too much fun to not tell someone, and the g/f just did this:>>>>>>>>>>

Ok, i am hooked!!! i know its cheating, but i made my pvc tires today, and ran 9 packs thru it today/tonight!!!!!!!!!
Time to start looking for the new body now....so any ideas would be greatly appreciated. This is going on a TB-01, so it is a bit narrower than most, which does limit me, or i will have to make allowances elsewhere to make it look "right".
I have decided I am going full tilt as well, lights, neons, the whole nine yard....
i have had this car for 7 yrs., so giving her a make-over will be fun..

ANY SUGGESTIONS you have will help me soo much, so for those of you who drift, or go for that tuner look, i am looking for the big wings as well...

thanks in advance for any ideas....

Ron

thanks jinx! hahahah,, i have become what a swore i would never be!!!! i never really counted that drifting thing as anything that could be even romotely fun, but i gotta tell ya, it really is a blast... i had a father and his two sons pull in to the parking lot i was in, seen me drifting " and had to check it out". The little one, maybe 4 or 5, wanted to drive it so bad, his dad was afraid he would break it, but it spins too hard for him to get in too much trouble, so i tossed dad the controller, said tear it up, and they both smiled and laughed the entire time. then it was the older sons turn, and he showed dad up!!! must be the practice on the playstation i guess,...either way, the dad is into trains pretty heavy, and after seeing my little driving demo, and then i turned him loose with my stampede, he is now going to buy two trucks!!!!!!
i told him about our forum as well, and we had a good talk for almost 45 minutes..

THAT is what r/c is about to me, FUN!!!

he plans on contacting me soon, getting together for tips and bashing, and of course, becoming a member here..

I havent went the PVC route yet but I did take 4 pieces of aluminum tape about 24 in. long and 3/4 in wide and turn them around the tires on my TC4 put it down and let er ripp!!!! this thing was drifting like crazy on the asphalt 15-20 ft circles and each wrap was lasting 15-20 min then when it starts to wear you leave that on and wrap some more over it after a couple of minutes it doesnt look so strange it starts wearing evenly.it also peals off easily if you dont let it wear to nothing. My friend stopped by and took it for a spin and now he is hooked.

Drifting is pretty fun. I put slicks on my Storm and do a little drifting around my street.
I was thinking about converting one of my 1/8 on-road cars to a drifter. Dont know how that would work but it would be pretty cool to see it flying around sideways :)

Drifting... mmm... Me really interested! Again, Zman, what u did with the diff? I really don't understand it. Made it RWD?

actually, i used a couple chunks of 2-sided tape stuffed in the diff's :D
with gear diff's, you can get away with it. i dont have a vid cam, only the quicktime video on my camera, but i will do some drift vid's for ya tomorrow( they play a bit fast tho, not sure why, think drifting-benny hill style!!!)

the PVC is pretty slick really, i found some vids of guys drifting, and when i looked, they were on PVC too.
