Do you want the lift for show or for more ground clearance? You don't need to make it any higher than it is when the shocks are at the highest ride height settings because the car will become "undrivable" due to the extremely high ride height.

shock towers along with stiffer springs and heavier shock oil and larger tires

Why do you want more ride height? For show I can see, but practicaly, it stock max. is plenty of clearance w/drivability. The easiest way I think is to just get the biggest wheels like the 7.7 inch. wheels from the savage Truckzilla Big Twin conversion kit made by Hot Bodies. I'm almost positive that they sell the wheels with tires seperate from the Truckzilla kit. BTW those wheels are awsome! I wouldn't get the Jumbo Kong wheels/tires because they are way too expensive, and in my oppinion the tires are too big and are just overkill. After those, I would just put the stock body mounts all the way up. Any aftermarket longer ones would look kind of silly.

Stiffer springs really push it up

Check out the May 2004 issue of RC Car Action. Someone asked the same question as you are now. Peter Viera told them that the Maxx "is already lifted as high as practicality allows" and that "the chassis is already higher than the gearboxes." He said that preloading the shocks all the way would put a lot of stress on the drive axels.

As for stiffer springs, the stock ones are known to be way to soft. I picked up a set of blue Trinity ones that are $8 for 4. Two sets of these will keep your Maxx at a higher ride height, but will not lift the height farther than the current high. As it is, you can fit a soda can underneath it, why need more clearance?

Another idea is getting 40 series rims and tires. They will raise it, just gear down a couple of teeth to accomodate the massive wheels and tires.
