I know most of you prolly started out with a tyco nikko or radio shack. Im talkin full function( My 1st was a lil corvette with a cord. Im talkin cordless and full function) Mine was a radio shack surger.(like 2 years ago) Now I upgraded to A Radio shack Samurai racer.Goes 17.5 mph with a 540 motor. (the surger costed 30 bucks and went 12.5 mph)

I had this sweet Radio Shack Porsche back in the late 80s (88 or 89 maybe). This thing was pretty cool. It actually looked scale and thinking back (I was around 5 at the time) it was close to 1/10 scale. This car probably could have passed as a low end Tamiya today. It was digital proportional. I remember it had independent suspension along with slicks. With a set of foam inserts they probably would have hooked up pretty good. Too bad it used like 8 'C' alkalines instead of NiCDs.
I took this thing apart a few years later and the motor was HUGE compared to other cars I had taken apart. It was probably something like a 540. This was one Radio Shack car I was I still had today. Out of all the non-hobby cars I had this was probably one of the nicest. Then in 2000 I discovered real RC cars and the toy RCs ended.

Hmm.. Thinking back the first "real" R/C I had was a Falcon :) Then 2 RC10s, a 10L, a Dominator, a Losi JR, a RC10T, a Traxxass TRX1, then I quit for 7 years, so now I have a FT B3, and I'm going to pick up a TC3 and a T3 in the next couple weeks.

A Radioshack Tsauro-X I think it was called. It was pretty fast, and was big. It was an offroad buggy, and handled like GARBAGE in dirt b/c the motor was in front of the rear axle (RWD). It was very tough though.

My first car was a Tyco Tirestorm. It was 2wd. And it had a 380 motor for each wheel. The tires started out at about 3 inches wide. When you got on the gas good, it would thin the tires up to about an inch. I built a little track in my yard for it. It would turn about 10-second laps. My Stampede will turn 5 1/2 second laps. I now have a TC3.

My first car was a tyco turbo hopper and then a tamiya striker!!I lowered the striker using fuel line so i could race at the local carpet oval against lowered rc10s'and managed
to win a few times and i always got laughed at because it was a striker, but after about 2 weekends later, the guys were not laughing any more!! ;)

That is over a 24 year span..
Many vehicles I have bought were from distributors as I have been indirectly involved the hobby business for about 6 years.
I need to find some of the pics I have, I had them stored at freeeyellow.com and they deleted them all..

Wow, Clayton, nice set! :)
I started out with a 1/12 size Tyco car when I was 7 or so. And the steering arm broke and broke and broke, super glue just wasn't that super! The a FX-10 which broke more often. The an RC10 Champ! And from there, a Traxxas Bullet handed down from my brother, used JR-X2, Super Blackfoot, Clodbuster, 4-Tec, NXT, XXX Spec, and Stampede.

My first decent car was a Nikko Rhino buggy. I got it from one of those Sales Leadership clubs :-) My first real kit RC was a Tamiya Striker. I had so much fun with that car!

Mine, was a Tamiya QuickDrive Clodbuster back in the day lol. It was pretty cool, and beat any radioshack thing my friends had, even the on road ones. Followed by the Quick drive Tamiya Ferrari F40. This thing was faster than my "clodbuster" and i loved it. One day while racing my friends in a driveway, some teenager (we were probably 9-8) came along with a buggy. A REAL rc car! He raced us, and had fun zipping past, us and he did a jump off the front of my car, leaving a black streak form his tires. I remember thinking wow, i want that! A couple years later i quit RC. And I got back into it a few years ago. Now if I could take my TB01 back in time and make that kid eat my tires! lol. Oh well its all fun.

This is a fun post, seeing what was out there once upon a time. I started with a Tyco Turbo Hopper and a Sears Lobo 4x4 truck. Those were the days. Then, my neighbor got a Frog, raced it and totally hopped it up, & I saw what R/C could be. Then I bought a Marui Big Bear and put a Kyosho Pulsar 2000 radio in it. Have had several since: RC12L, another Big Bear, Kyosho Lazer, Rockbuster (Grasshopper clone), Frog, Tamiya Madcap, Traxxas Bandit, Cox Bandito, Optima-Mid (awesome car!), Outrage ST, USA-1, MRC Ironman (super tough!), and Traxxas Street Sport. Now, I want a gas truck.
Hmm... let's see....
first there was the Tamiya Grasshopper, then a Hornet. Then a Falcon. Then an aristocraft(?) Challenger truck. Then a "street" car, but couldn't tell you what it was if my life depended on it... it eventually got turned into a rocket car using a D size model rocket engine.
The most recent is an MRC Ironman. There were a few others in there, but I don't remember what they all were.
Scary part is, I have parts form most of these still laying around....
