I have alot of nitro cars and planes but recently decided to purchase a Wild Willy 2 jsut to paly around with. below are my list of questions /problems:
1. The radio range of my car is extremely short. As in i cant walk more than 3 feet away from it without losing radio reception. I have an old school reciever which might not handle intereference very well.
2. The throttle response(when it works) is incredibly sluggish. There is like a 2 sec delay when i squeeze the throttle. Is this normal for electric.
3. The green light on my ESC (duratrax blast) never comes on. When the car goes forward no light comes on at all but when i go backward the light turns red. Shouldnt the green light come on?
4. How close can i mount the reciever to the ESC. Becuase of the lack of sapce on the willies i have them posistioned right next to eachother on top of the battery pack. Could this be the cause of all the radio glithces, delays, short range and so on. Also if i wrap the reciever in foam padding will that allow me to place it close to the Esc without interference.
5. Is it normal for the motor to get soo hot. I mean like after 5 minutes of running the motor was really really hot.
6. Is there any way to tell whether the motor is on backwards or not.. Cause if you reverse the servo that takes care of the problem. Could this be why the light dosent come on.
7. Sometimes when my finger is off the throttle.. the car will just be sitting there and then slam into reverse.
Could someone please help me with these problems. this is my first electric experience and it istn going very well at all
Thanks

hey-
i have heard a LOT of good things about those cars so, i say , good choice!
now to your questions: first your old school reciever probably isnt gonna do it! also maybe the batts are low in the actual radio? check them then try again. the batts could also be the problem with the lag time. check to make sure all your equipment works while not in the car. if it does check for wires that cross or touch metal that could lead to interfearence with the radio.
(more details about exact equipment names ect. would be greatly helpful!!!)

ok here are the details...... Motor=stock, Esc=Duratrax Blast Reversing Mofset, Battery=duratrax pirnaha 1500, Transmitter=Hitec lynx AM, Reciever= hitec old-school-not sure of name
I have a good hitec reciever in my Rc10gt so im probably gonna strap that into the willies and see what happens

I think your esc is wired backwards. Most escs have a delay going in reverse; this may be why yours takes 2 seconds to go. Try reversing the throttle on your radio and make sure you have pos to pos and neg to neg on your motor. More info on your equipment would help too.

hey, ive got a blast also-- have you tried to use its one button set-up to adjust radio& car?

its really confusing, but you should get your red light on after setup, and the green one should turn on after pressing the trigger. try playing with the throttle trim on your radio also first, if that doesnt work then set it back to 0 point and reconfigure the esc and radio

it does sound like youve got the wires backwards though.. switch 'em if youve got bullet style connectors, which you should have if its still a stock esc like you got it

The thing about using the foam padding is the actual antenna isn't protected. Thats were the signal some out of, right? mount the antenna as far away from the esc as possible. buy a new receiver

hey isky-
if you wrap either the esc or receiver/antenna in electrice tape will it not matter how close they are together, and will it improve reception????

thanks
