Sheesh. I posted in general asking if anyone knew why my upgraded shocks were making my car lower (and sometimes scrape the ground) and I still have no reply.
The oil in the shocks is exactly the same. They are made by the same company (TAMIYA) and are built identical besides parts (the new shocks have metal casing and better parts). The springs have less coils however. Are the springs, fluid, or something else the factor here? I don't want to switch back to my stock shocks. http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/frown.gif

It's the springs. Put your old springs back.

You can use the new springs as long as you adjust the pre-load correctly. Move the collar that holds the top of the spring down to make your ride height higher. Note: this won't change the spring tension, just the ride height.

Hmm.... it doesn't seem to be the springs. I put the old springs on the new shocks, no luck. Put the new springs on the old shocks and it was at the same height. I think I might need the oil it suggests for it. #400...you think so?

no the oil isn't it. use the ride height peload spacers. keep putting on more 'til the ride height is where you like it.

What is the collar?
What is a ride height "peload" (spelling?) spacer?
I'm not familiar with these things. Is the collar the thing that snaps on the shock just above the spring?
Is the ride height spacer the same thing or the other holes near where the "ball" thing is screwed in.
Thanks.

Maybe you have air bubbles in the shock oil?

The collar is the thing that holds the top of the spring in a certain position. It stays in place one of two ways 1) with a screw tightening it against the shock cylinder or 2) it has spacers that snap on above it to hold it down further. Whatever you have to do, move the top of the spring down further and you'll have more ground clearance. Get it? Was that clear enough or should I try to explain more?

Got it! Thanks.
What are the different holes for then?
(near where the ball-ended screw that the shock snaps on to screws in)
Thanks for helping me...

Moving where the shock attaches (top or bottom) has differrent effects on handling. It gets kind of complicated...so just keep them in the stock position until you're comfortable enough to experiment.
