There is no t4 in sight right now so buy a t3 and have fun!

I have a RTR and I love it but sometimes I would have waited and bought the Factory team for a couple more dollars. :D

As far as I know, there was no T to T2 conversion kit, and there was no T2 to T3 conversion kit. I doubt there will be a T3 to T4 conversion kit.

I think I remember seeing T2 to T3 conversion kit. If you are going to race, buy a Team or Factory Team. If not, the RTR should serve you just fine.

Plus you'll be able to get parts for the T3 long after its discontinued. Associated will probably make a conversion kit. They have on to take the B2 to the B3.

There is also a rumored XXXT to be coming out pre-built, so that gives you one more choice

I bought a RTR in April for my son's tenth birthday. F.A.S.T. stands for Father And Son Truck Racing. He drives. I'm his crew chief.
I bought the RTR because I wasn't sure he would like it, and the RTR was priced low (I thought) for a complete package. He loves the sport. We live right by The Dirt in Hemet, CA, and try to go to the track every week. The plastic gear servo broke the second battery pack out. The plastic replacement gear set I bought broke half a pack later. The stock motor died after six trips to the track. The LRP Runner Plus ESC
smoked last Friday, and is not under warranty, because I replaced the connectors with Deans. Cutting the Tamiya connector off voids the warranty. My son does not thrash, and I maintained the equipment well. The stuff just died. I purchased the truck about sixty days ago, and have replaced the servo with a metal gear HiTec (no problems), the motor with a Reedy MVP (seems fast), and am now thinking about a Novak Cyclone 2 speed control(all we do is race, so I might as well). I was given a new set of Step Pins by a sponsored racer that likes my son (polite kid who knows when to just listen and learn), and felt sorry for him(stock tires don't work at The Dirt). I bought a bearing set and CVDs that I still haven't installed ( waiting for the bushings to wear out). If I had it to do over again, I would have taken him to the track, borrowed a truck for him to drive to see if he liked it, and then bought the Team truck and separate components. I have now bought them anyway. The HiTec radio and receiver work just fine.
If you buy the RTR, file and lube the servo saver, and back it off all the way. It will loosen up the steering, but maybe you'll get more than 5 minutes out of the servo. Good luck!

so f.a.s.t. your saying if i want a better quality truck just go ahead and get the factory team because noting lasts on the rtr?the only reason i was going to get the rtr t3 is because it was cheaper than getting the buggy you think i should get the b3 insted ?

Hi Misfit. I don't know anything about the B3. The T3 RTR is our first experience and first rc purchase. At our local track there are a lot more trucks than buggies. I have heard that the trucks are tougher, but aI really don't know. All I do know, is that in two months, I have bought the equivalent of a team truck. with some frustration thrown in. Maybe you should bank a little more cash, and get what you really want, instead of settling for something. Good luck!

There was no t2 to t3 conversion. The t2 is basically an electric gt. The two cars have to extreme of differences to have a conversion kit. :)
