Well ,technically the motor does matter. .18 Max but I am willing to be flexible if sombody wants to test a 3.3 or a .21 on this track. It will be a real handful, but "Somebody" can probably do it.

One-eyed Jack
07-18-2006, 06:10 PM
what tires are everyone running on the trucks? Most of the guys with GT,s run pro-line Striker II or Duratrax. The Jato,s run the HPI Pro compound or the Striker.

yes they have them at the track If you are wondering about the two dif. names ie Tachie and One-eyed Jack. One and the same. Using two computers and for some reason one has reverted to an old name and I can not change it for some reason.

I'll be looking for those two first place trucks, don't give me room on the bottom, because you know the Red 8 will be going around you for first place and that is a FACT. I'll call you Friday. :D :)
One-eyed Jack
07-18-2006, 08:52 PM
That is what is good about these two trucks, they only run on the inside line. They go around the track in an egg shape always flying and leaving no room on the inside to pass. The only problem is someone has to drive them. Who can I get?
black3
07-18-2006, 09:31 PM

I don't know, I'm still trying to fine some one to drive mine so they will get around the inside. When you fine some one, would you let me know/

Just wanted to let everyone know that we may have a visit by the Goodyear blimp during the race this Saturday. Hope to be in contact with the local newspaper to see if I can get us a write up in the sports section. I'll post more info as it becomes available.

one-eyed jack
Is it going to be a Jato or Gt?
One-eyed Jack
07-19-2006, 03:39 PM
Hopefully it will be Jato #1, GT#2. I will be running both trucks at the same time. One will be making little circles around and across the lap counter. The one on the track will be there for show!!!!
black3
07-19-2006, 08:22 PM
Well I can already see the GT will be # 1, as you are going in circles with that one truck across the lap counter, there will be two GT with your one truck, and the third truck will in front of the other Jato on the track doing its job, any way thats the plan for now.
One-eyed Jack
07-20-2006, 06:20 AM
Well, I have rain tires and they all have tread.
black3
07-20-2006, 08:17 AM
you got me on that one
One-eyed Jack
07-20-2006, 12:41 PM
HPI tires have a v groove to get rid of the water. You have some unless you sold them.
black3
07-20-2006, 03:36 PM
Well it looks like I'm back in the race, as I still have those HPI just hard to make them work on my trucks. I don't think it will rain us out, so the GT will be #1.
One-eyed Jack
07-20-2006, 05:24 PM
Yeah,right!!!!!
black3
07-20-2006, 07:41 PM
Well it looks like I'm still in the race, but I can't get my trucks to work well with those HPI, but I don't think it is going to rain befor we get the race in, any way I hope not as the GT WILL BE # 1

The last thing I heard about Smitty was that he closed his track down. I tried to get a ready to run--out of the box-- 18 class going but the interest just didn't seem to be there. Come run at the Antique Barn with us every other Saturday. Tell all the old RC racers I said hello.
Dick
Hey Dick.
Dee here, hope the world is treating you alright these days. I'm gotta go check yall out one weekend. I miss oval racing. I used to race my Mini T on the oval at Smitty's track, and had a blast. I miss seeing him around.

Hi Dee. I'm doing alright. Running oval at the Antique Barn. I don't remember whether you have a truck or not but if you do come run with us every other Saturday. I tried to get a Mini T class going but just couldn't get the interest in it. I don't know what happened to Smitty. Can somebody tell me???
Have a good week.
Dick
Yea, I've still got my Nitro Rustler. I thought I would go practice with it and see if I can get it to handle. I've got some Proline street tires, I can try. My truck has the Pro 15 engine in it, with a HPI pipe. Has Steve got oval bodies that will fit this?
Smitty passed away a few months ago, from lung cancer. Two weeks after he found out he had it, he was gone.

I'll be happy to pass the torch on, but not right now. You are running great and it gets harder every race for this old man to stay where I'm at, enjoyed the hard raceing you gave me and it was fun. Got to see if I can fine just alitter more speed befor the next race, as you young guns are getting faster every race. Have a good two weeks. See you Aug. 5

Shaun,
I don't know if me and Lenny will be ready by friday or not. We will give it our best shot, but I am having to work a lot of OT these days. We will see. Until Glenn gets the rules posted on the website you can try and download the word file from my website (I think!) Lets give it a try! Try this:

Tracy,
I got the rules. Thanks! I'll have the truck ready, just need a driver! I don't think I want to run 2 classes every week. Ricky should be able to run a few races, and I might pull "double duty" once or twice.
Shaun
Brown91
07-23-2006, 08:48 PM
Yea, I know what you mean Shaun. I don't know if me and Lenny can do it every week either. I guess we can talk with the guys and see if how everybody wants to run it. Maybe we do it every other race week, once a month, or maybe me and Lenny will take turns and switch classes every other race week. Until I see you on the track, here is a preview of what I hope mine looks like when I get done. (well it depends on how this attachment uploads!)

I am for them myself, but Scott suggested we just hold off until we see how this goes. He said his handled so well that we shouldn't have a problem controlling them and being able to race close together. Like I said I am for them, but I will support what the majority wants to do.

Seems I might soon have 2 Mimi-T's. One is sort of stock with shocks and other little mods,, the other might be all aluminum. Dee should remember it, it was Jimmy's!!
On the sad side, a few months back Lisa's mom got sick and died, and she and Smitty pretty much handled all the stuff. Then a few weeks later they finally find whats been causing Smitty to get sick so often.(that's why the track closed) He even went to his first round of chemo and was very upbeat about it. Lisa told me he came home afterwards saying that "I'm gonna beat this!". But, things went downhill real fast and like 2 weeks later he was gone.
He couldn't drive very good but he would help anybody out as best he could and always was there offering his support. I sure miss running at his track and I know he'll be missed by those that called him friend.
Okay, enough of he sad stuff. When I get a week off from the Wood, I'll come on up there and check it out. All my stuff is electric so,,, anyone wanna run 1/12th's?

Trash in the carb or dried fuel dye. The 2.5 carb is the only one that gives me this much trouble. If I had your money "plus mine" I could spend yours on a high dollar motor and use mine for other stuff.

I have been showing the GT how it is done for the past year. It's about time you learned how. I have been sandbagging for so long now I have forgotten the fast way around the track. Guess it is time for Tricky's school of fast left turns.

Hello all.. I just rebuilt my diff in my gt, after realizing the thrust bolt broke into pieces, the diff just doesnt seem right. If you spin the spur, with motor attached, only the left side spins a few times. Then the right will accompany it in spinning foward. Is this normal, I mean the diff feels really good, but something just aint right. If I hold the spur it does like a normal diff does, each tire in opposite directions. If i hold the chassis in my left hand and spin the right tire, it moves foward but the left does nothing. But then again if I hold the spur gear, the left moves in the opposite direction. I am asking this because I dont wanna drive it and spend more money because I goofed up the diff.. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
One-eyed Jack
07-26-2006, 09:03 PM
Hold the spur in one hand , turn either wheel. The opposite wheel should turn in the opposite direction . Hold the spur and the left wheel; try to turn the right wheel forward. If you can turn it the diff. is not tight enough. Tighten the thrust bolt until it bottoms out. Dont wring it off just snug. Then back it off 1/8 turn. If you dont wring it off when you snug it down you should be close.
One-eyed Jack
PS I drive Jato with a gear diff.!!!!!!!

Congrats to the winners of our July 22 race http://www.theantiquebarn.net/RC%20RACING%20HOME/NEW%20RC%20RACE%20HOME.htm . Next race is August 5. Had some of the best racing ever to be seen at the Antique Barn and Hobby R/C Raceway. Several heats had lead changes on almost every lap. Many of the races went down to the last lap. Had several new faces racing that are going to give the regulars some serious competition. Nastruck class testing is scheduled for Saturday, July 29. Anyone interested should attend to see what the best setup will be. Follow the posts for updates.

Qualified 5th,finished 4th behind Lightning. Had a bad wreck at the beginning and lost a lap to the field. Got it back, moved to second, had another wreck with the leader, lost position, got back to 3rd but I could not hold Lightning off. My truck would not turn in. After the main I changed tires and ran a tank full of gas against 2nd place finisher, lapped him twice. Was afraid to change them just before the Main. Jeff Dunn turned 54 laps for the TQ with your old truck and won the Main. I am bringing a new plan Stan for you on Sat. I am through taking it easy on you guys.

Brian,
For the most part everyone with GT's are running the lowered shock towers with tc3 shocks. I heard that Gary has not lowered his GT, but I really don't know for sure. Most of the GTs are running the "super mod" bodies made by factory works although I run a nastruck body on my GT. A few others also use the "crowd pleaser" but I can't remember who makes those.

From my point of view, Scott and Shaun were neck and neck. It took us all day just to get mine to go in a circle.
As far as the rules go, it is my understanding that all the rules will remain the same at this point with the exception of the gear rule. We have pretty much decided to toss that one out. With the rules as they are, (and with a good driver) the trucks appear to be pretty stable and forgiving. Net result- nothing changed except for the gear rule, which was removed.

i think for right now, were just going to say a "nastruck" body. We figured that time would tell which was the best body.(HPI or Mcallister)
Fastdraw
07-31-2006, 09:34 PM
I personally like the hpi body. More to the real truck. Would not want to get into different shape bodys out of context like the nascar cars are. To me the bodys James and Mike run are not really nascar shape. All nascar cars have a trunk that is rounded at the back and the spoiler is rounded with it. Not straight like those bodies are.
Brown91
07-31-2006, 09:37 PM
I think the McCallister bodies look more like nastrucks than the HPIs. Just my opinion, I could be wrong.
Lamm1
07-31-2006, 09:42 PM
I do too, Tracy. Just like the real nascars, the craftsman trucks have lost there "street" look & I think the Mcallister does look more like a Craftsman truck. Just my 2 cents worth. It doesn't matter to me, i'll run whatever the rules say we have to run.

I think you are right but we did see some that had a slanted back glass the role cage but can not remember the brands. The same goes for the high down force bodys. I know it still says its a monte corlo or fusion but the idea is to keep the bodys looking like the real cars

I mostly use duratrax with good results. They have a good ballance between grip and wear. The strikers will give more grip and speed, but if you run them on the right side they will be done by the end of the day. I run a 20-60 gear on my GT.

Saturday: Partly sunny and not as hot, a few showers or storms mainly south of the Triangle. Highs upper 80s to low 90s. A front sinking through the region will leave us with a northeast wind and a break from the extreme heat today, holding temperatures to near-normal levels and likely leaving any hit and miss afternoon and evening storms over the southern half or so of the state.

"I take my winnings and buy my tires."
Even if you re-use the rims, your still $15.00 bucks in the red. But then again, we are not in it to make money!
And as far as spending money to go fast, I've become all too familiar with that concept. I just recently spent a little again.

Is it just me or do we need a forum of our own for the barn? This thread is going to get longer and longer, and I don't know if that has anything to do with it, but it is starting to load slower and slower. Maybe the barn's web host offers a free forum that could be set up (I know mine does) or maybe we could use something similar to "yabb" to create our own forum. That might would drain the barn's bandwidth, I don't know, but it does look like we need to do something. But thats just my opinion, I could be wrong. ;-)

It didn't take you guys long to forget who "The Points Champ" is. And the HPI tires on that truck have over 2000 laps on them. 32 bucks divided by 2k is .015 a lap. LOL :D

You are right and I'm sorry. I told a story and again I'm sorry. The HPI won't work on the good truck, there is a HPI on the right fornt of the other two trucks. As you know I have try the HPI in both the compound and I'm going to try them again on the truck I'm putting together, but that truck won't be ready until the race in Sept.

Hey man, I haven't forgot a damn thing! Especially the tire bill, when it comes to the Jato. I saw the Brown boys burn up a brand new set of tires on those GT's....in less than one race day....on EACH TRUCK!!

YEA, BUT SOMEBODY HAS TO DO IT!!
IT LOOKS LIKE I WILL PROBABLY BE ABLE TO MAKE THE REST OF THE RACES THIS YEAR. I MAY RUN THE GASCAR 500 ON OCT 7TH, BUT THAT SHOULD BE THE ONLY CONFLICT.
BTW, I WILL PROBABLY RUN "SOME" NASCAR AND "SOME" NASTRUCK, SO POINTS WILL NOT BE ON MY MIND. JUST HAVE FUN AND TRY TO "WIN". I WILL DEFINATELY BE RUNNING NASTRUCK ON THE 2ND, AFTER THAT WHO KNOWS? I MAY RUN PRO TRUCK ONE WEEK, JUST FOR FUN. THATS IF I CAN FIND A GOOD RIDE? HEHE
I TELL YOU AFTER RUNNING THE CUSTOM WORKS SERIES AND THE RC-OVAL.COM .09 SERIES THIS YEAR, I HAVE HAD ENOUGH POINTS RACING FOR ONE YEAR. HOPEFULLY I CLINCH THE .09 POINTS THIS WEEKEND, SO I CAN GO TO THE LAST RACE IN EASLEY,SC ON SEPT. 23, AND JUST HAVE FUN. WE'LL SEE!!!
SCOTT, I EMPOWER YOU TO CREW CHIEF FOR MY BUD, TERRY, FOR ONE MORE WEEK. HEHE

Harder compond than the Proline or Duratrax. I've heard tell they never wear out.
But on the negetive side much less grip. The short suspension travel of the GT's prevents them from working as good as they do on the longer traveling (and more foregiving) Jato's.

I have run Strikers and Duratrax. They both work well and require a slightly different setup. They still wear very fast. One race day for the right side, two to three race days on the left side. Speed and or lap times same.

I don't know if I got it worked out or not. I made some changes on the dirt truck. I would like to see the dirt Jato do better. Maybe my number one truck will do OK Sat. The backup is still a little loose. Wait til you see the size of that Anaconda tire. I only have two for the front now. It will probabley take an .18 or a .21 to pull these tires.

Glenn,
I am OK with everything except the following:
1.4 airflow cut outs-I am OK with this in the future but currently I have a rectangular cutout and it's dimensions may not meet this rule. The way I see it anyway, is that the bigger the cut out, the more drag and less downforce you have, so a larger one may hurt more than help. Maybe it allows you to run the engine leaner, I don't know. But again, I am OK with this rule for the future.
1.5 No other cut outs allowed- maybe include an exception for the exhaust
1.10 Side dams- we had decided that the side dam rule was opposite of what you have in the diagram. I will be OK with this in the future however.
1.11 Spoiler width- I see that it is a good rule to have, but currently everyone has agreed it shall not exceed the body width. Again, I am OK with this in the future.
4.1 Tires- In order to keep control on costs, and to make sure no one ran a "special" tire, it was initially decided by everyone to run the same tire, which was take-off or RB
To sum it up, I think you did a very good job of clearifing the rules for everyone, I just think we should hold off enforcing the body rules for a while (at least until me and Lenny tear up the ones we have! lol), but if everyone else is OK with the body rules, the next generation of bodies coming out of the Brown body shop will comply.
Thanks for the hard work Glenn!
Tracy "Brown91"
Black3 and One Eye.
The new "part" came in today, and I now have it installed. Thanks for the tips on mounting the flywheel and clutch, it went on with no problem.
Someone else I think told me this was a "bolt in", well, yea, after grinding the mounts and chassis, and top brace, THEN it would bolt in!
I'm gonna try to make it Saturday, but I'm really gonna have to hustle to get the engine broken in and tuned. My son is in his school's band, and they have a football game tomorrow night, so I'll have to try and get up earlier Saturday.
Dee.

I agree Brown91 about most of the rules as far a enforcement. Most will be on trial and error to maybe work the bugs out for next year. About these rules and my input. Most of the rules I took off Nascar page with changes
1.4 Air cut outs I see no problem
1.5 this hole for sure is ok ( I just did not have it down. Nascar either)
1.10 This was meant so if you wanted to mount the spoiler on the correct way you could add the side dam to the spoiler. But I understand mounting the spoiler on backwards using the support for the dam as Scott had on his truck. Will work on better diagram in a little bit.
1.11 Spoiler lenght on the stocks HPI's is 5 7/8" Was just trying to keep it simple without adding more to it by using the stock spoilers that come with the truck. But you can angle side dams and get wider.
4.1 the tire rules was just taking off the nascar page and forgot to delete the other. was only in there because of the other track in the other series
But as the first line in the rules pages says, RULES SUBJECT TO CHANGE and they will as we go alone
Thanks for the input Brown 91

James,
All I can say is that I loved it! Me and Lenny were talking today about how we can't wait till the next race. It was very fun even if I did tangle with with my brother in the main. Everyone is so equal and they are so stable that it really makes for some fun racing. I think 3 out of the 4 of us even posted the exact same fastest lap of a 5.00 flat. We even went 3 wide a couple of times while practicing. I know you will enjoy it too if we can just muster some competition for you.
Glen has listed the rules over at the barn's site. I think we all agreed that there is some flex on the body rules until next year, but being that you hardly ever wreck, you may want to make sure it meets the rules he posted. Just remember no .15 size engines! ~ain't that right Glenn? lol just ribb'n ya! :-)~
