For X-Mas I got a speed Jig from deans. I didnt have enough money to buy a battery until now. I finally got a Trinity 2400 Vist-extra and I tried to put it in my jig and they dont fit!!!! What is the matter with it!! I mean they aren't even close to fitting, they are off by like a centimeter. Please help. I built it without the jig but it would have been easier If I had the jig. I was planning on building more batteries too. Also I haven't tried my other batteries in it yet. Was it just that battery or what?!

Must have been how you set it up or something, because my 2400's fit in it just fine. You did compress the foam on the inside of the jig down onto the batteries right? You have to use a little muscle, the pressure is what holds the cells in place.

The problem is that 2400 cells are bigger than other cells (even 3000s), but they should still fit. Make sure you've assembled the jig correctly and try again. You should be able to get them in there.

hmm the one thing i can think of is... did you put shrink wrap around each cell? did you properly put in the foam?

...also, the 2400's are the same size as 3000 sub c's...

The Dean's jig will accept cells as tall as 42.2mm. Here are the height dimensions for some popular cells (measured with a digital caliper, with factory shrink but no additional shrink):

Sanyo 2400: 42.6mm
Sanyo 3000: 43.2mm
Sanyo 1700: 42.2mm
Panasonic 3000: 42.1mm

Hope that helps.

Hey Peter, how about some diameter measurements? I'd like to see them.

Nairb, that sounds kinda dirty--I'll assume you mean the diameter of the cells.

Diameter with factory shrink, but no additional shrink:
Sanyo 2400: 22.5mm
Sanyo 3000: 22.65mm
Sanyo 1700: 22.6mm
Panasonic 3000: 22.1mm

I tried those things but it didn't work. It has nothing to do with how i pi it together. Ok say you have it laying on it's back so you can put the cells in. You know the two lips that come up to hold the bottom and top of the cell in? Well they don't fit between those!!! Something is totally wrong with it.
