i have been seeing so many car commercials lately and i'm not sure how car companies come up with their names cause there are just so many cars out there with the most stupidest names. heres a list of few here.

Have to agree with you on the odd car names, it often happens that car companies even create names that mean rude words in one language - they now hire people to stop that from happenning.
Some more weird name choices:
"Suzuki Wagon R" - weird when its not a wagon at all, infact tiny.
"Mercedes Vaneo" - downgrades the car immediately, when they were trying to disguise that fact that it looks like a van.
"Mercedes Viano" - another Van name, given to a van-come-MPV
"Hyundai Coupe" - state the obvious why don't you...
"Volkswagen Touareg" - I believe I read this is the name of a tribe somewhere, so why name a car after it?

Pagani is a bad name? That's the guy who founded the company, it's a great name. And Zonda? That's the name of the wind that blows in the Andes Mountains. Together they form a very unique name, which is proper given the car. I think it's a perfect name for the car.

I dunno about the name...not great...but not really silly IMO, but a helluva cool little car, especially if you can get rid of that damned understeer. 2800 lbs in a coupe when the xA and xB are only 2400ish? WTH? Shave some weight, add a little power, drop it, and have some fun!

I've never heard of ANY of those cars :rolleyes: and I'm a big car fan :p

I think anything that has a number in it's name is just a sad excuse of a name, as if the company could not think of anything better than just a random number and some letters with it...

And the sun, it's a star. A fairly cool one, at that. It's also relatively small compared to others :rolleyes: It's still got a few tens of billions of years 'till it conks out, farts, and implodes :D

How can you call yourself a car fan and not know about the Fairlady-Z! That is what the Z-car has been called in Japan since the first 2.4l straight six models in the early '70s.

A couple of notes about cars I do know about: VW tends to name their cars after winds, hence "Jetta/Bora", "Golf" ("Gulf"), "Passat", "Scirocco", "Corrado". IIRC, the "Touareg" was named after a nomadic tribe of the Sahara.

Has the Nissan Sunny been mentioned?

If you actually knew something about a DSM (Laser/Eclipse/Talon) they were all built by a joint effort between Mitsu and Chrysler named Diamond Star Motors in the USA, but that is beside the point. Do you have any idea how many cars are rebadged (you even spelt it wrong)

Just to name a few off the top of my head.

how about reading a post with an open mind? Eagle Talon, named after a part of the anatomy of a bird????? Coud it maybe be he simply made the Eclipse reference because so many people havent heard of a Talon?????

I am not going to sit here and turn this into "who can say what about who", but I am quite sure there are other things said on the interenet that are far more " idiotic". Verbally attacking someone is not only a great way to make people refuse to answer posts you may have when you need help, but also a good way to get banned. I don't necessarily think those names are stupid. I was referring to pedeman's request to think of more cars named after animals or have an animal-esque name.

(I think the Mustang Cobra is an...."interesting" name though....lol! I love Mustangs though.)
