i've been using stick pack battery ever since, is it possible to unpack them and convert it to side by side, will it improve the performance of the car?

Yes it is possible to convert stick to side by side or saddle. But I really dont know about a performance boost. Maybe some one else can shed some light on the subject.

The performance boost that you might get has to do with being able to put them on a discharge tray. Once they are equalized they will charge to a higher level & perform a little better. How much better though, I couldn't say. Joe

Yep, I just converted 4 of my 3000 stick packs to use in my XX4's and Street Weapons. I don't really know if there will be a performance gain. I do know that if you match them up, you WILL get better performance right down until they dump. I matched a couple of 2000's and noticed that the power was very consistent...when the batteries dump, they dump! Before, the car would just gradually slow down.

Technically, there is no performance boost in terms of power and run time, but there is (depends on the car) a boost in terms of handling.

If the car is saddle pack, generally the CG is smaller and more compact, towards the center of the car. With a stick pack, the weight is spread out more towards the sides of the chassis. This is for packs mounted horizontally, not down the center.

when you convert from stick packs, you can select your own battery bars, wire, and connectors. also, you can use a battery tray to discharge each cell individually. these might lead to minimal performance gains.
